This is the story of an 8 year old girl who's family die's and she comes to live with her uncle. The step son of the uncle is 15 yrs old Trace and when he see the little girl (Lily) he thinks she is the most beautiful person he has ever see. 3.0 out of 5 stars Be warned...
This book had the makings of a great romance novel. H and h grow up together, horrible villian, they escape together, they find a savior....then it goes off kilter...an added mystery that just does not make any sense what so ever!!!! I finished this book on a 6 hour flight, so it is a short read 245 pgs. The big "misunderstanding that keeps the lovers apart" is...

This is the story of an 8 year old girl who's family die's and she comes to live with her uncle. The step son of the uncle is 15 yrs old Trace and when he see the little girl (Lily) he thinks she is the most beautiful person he has ever see. He made a promise to himself that he would protect her from harm. Lily becomes very attach to Trace and tells him all the time how much she loves him. When the uncle starts looking at her in a sexual way, Trace takes her and leaves in the middle of the night. They hitch a ride with a truck driver and this turns out to be the best thing that could happen to them. The truck driver take them to Calfornia and gives them the name of a person that will help them if they need it,they end up going to this person for help. He takes them in and they end up going to school/college and Trace continues to protect her. Both Trace and Lily love each other but Trace does not feel he is good enough for her, but Lily sat out to prove him wrong.I have left out a lot of the really good stuff, so won't be a spolier for you.
I highly recommend this book- it is a Great love story and a book you will not want to put down.

This book had the makings of a great romance novel. H and h grow up together, horrible villian, they escape together, they find a savior....then it goes off kilter...an added mystery that just does not make any sense what so ever!!!! I finished this book on a 6 hour flight, so it is a short read 245 pgs. The big "misunderstanding that keeps the lovers apart" is ridiculous. The h even says it in the book, "do you think I am so stupid to allow that to keep us apart?" Then every other page in the second 1/2 of book is "the h is so beautiful"...I am all for a beautiful h, but I feel it took up space and was too repetitive. The character of Mike (dad) was not fleshed out, it was such a short book that had much potential. Finally the evil villian in the second part of the book was like....dropped out of the sky...I was thinking, where did this come from? I am used to more fleshed out characters, if there is a mystery it is played out well and this did not do it for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book!, May 25, 2011

I really enjoyed this book. The author really allowed you into the character's heads and created the emotional connection between characters. I also appreciated that she told the story of the earlier years when they were kids rather than just giving you a summary or flashbacks. It was a very important part of the story and I was glad she gave it full development.
