I am your typical interwebs vet who grabs their music via p2p, but some artists just earn the support; This is one of those situations. From beginning to end you will be impressed with the flow, lyrically and musically. So down to earth and not over-the-top emo like some other artists I wont mention. Lightspeed is by far my favorite track, Cliche? maybe... The rest of the album just goes, and you listen. Once you start it's difficult to turn off for sure. For a younger MC, he definitely brings something to the table that hasn't been done as clean in the past. You can however hear a lot of Grieves' influences throughout the album, maybe sometimes a bit too much.

As someone who has known Grieves since the start, the songs that were leaked prior to the album (Bloody Poetry, Lightspeed) I thought that this album might be overly melodic and not as raw as previous albums, and I wasn't expecting any classic songs such as "I Ate Your Soul." However, this album IS very different than older Grieves, but I do not think it is disappointing. Lyrically, it is amazing, and the production is perfected. My only criticism is that I would like to hear more rapping. If you think that Together/Apart is going to put out bangers like I Ate Your Soul, Fly Away, Capitol Hill Girls, etc, you are sorely mistaken. Regardless if Grieves can sing (he CAN), I would like to hear more rapping and more "catchy" songs. Overall, great album. The lyrics are very personal yet relatable; it is definitely worth the listen and purchase. :)

I bought this album a while ago but finally listened to it while doing work in my yard recently. To my surprise the lyrics were incredible. I listened to album for a week. At one point I listened to it 3 times in a row. I could identify with his pain of learning to become an adult and define who you are and what you stand for. That yearning for the simplicity of childhood. The struggles of the many aspects of life. The songs are well constructed and always serve a purpose. He is as much a storyteller as he is a rapper and poet. The beats found on the album are well done and can be best described as eclectic with haunting at times. I think that's one of the major reasons I can listen to the album over and over.

Grieves got a new fan with this album. I can't imagine not buying anything he releases in the future.

Grieves is an artist who is positive, thinks poetically, and sings in ways that don't promote hate, violence, drugs, or any of the crap all these other "rappers" do. It's funny - I wish I would've had someone like him to grow up to. Instead, I had Eminem, Jay Z, The Game, and a lot of other negative - I wanna sell drugs/kill this/hate that group.

Granted they are good - just selling hate. If you want to see a good rapper who doesn't have to promote that - Grieves is your artist. I love the guy!

Ill type a better review later, I just couldn't stand to see this only getting 4 stars. This is a 5 Star Album, in its purest form. Engineering is pitch perfect and Grieves infectious vocals rings through your ears long after the 100th listen. One of the only MC's who can mesh singing and spittin together and sound like it isn't forced. Pick this up, buy it and support this fresh cat so we can hear more ill material in the near future.

Been a fan of many artists on rhymesayers, and grieves like the others is impressive. After my first listen through the album I cannot listen to anything else. The beginning starts off strong and ends on a very personal and uplifting note. I've seen reviews elsewhere calling this album repetitive and formulaic, but there are many different styles being used and such accusations are not formed in truth in my opinion. If you haven't heard it BUY this album it is incredible.

I'm in my 90's and I purchased this new fangled "rap hop" album to play on my record player while look through my button collection. I was so excited when it arrived that my pace maker almost burned out. I put it on my record player and all I hear was this scratching sound like Satan himself was trying to get me through my speakers! I need an old priest and a young priest... They don't sell them on Amazon though.
