When my fiancee and I decided to get married and went to talk to our parish priest, he presented us with this text. It has proven to be a wonderful planning aid for my fiancee and me. We have enjoyed reading all of the readings and deciding which ones will be used in our Mass. For those who want to plan a wedding that recognizes that Marriage is a Sacrament, and says this and remains Catholic through-and-through Champlin's text is an excellent source. We also purchased several other books, including "Perspectives On Marriage with Catholic Wedding Ceremony," and Chris Aridas' excellent "Your Catholic Wedding."

When most couples prepare to marry in the Catholic Church, they don't realize they don't have to have the "standard" wedding mass. This book shows samples and suggestions for choosing your own music, readings from the Bible, responsorial psalms, even adding some personalization to your vows. I'm glad I bought it, I'm looking forward to hearing the mass my fiance and I put together for our wedding. This is a unique book at a bargain price.

My fiance and I are both devout Catholic and started planning our Nuptial Mass, but neither of us have ever gone to a Catholic wedding that we can remember! I ordered EIGHT books on Catholic weddings, and this one is by far the best. Very easy to follow and straightforward. Makes choosing readings and prayers so simple. If you're having a Catholic wedding--with Mass or outside of Mass---GET THIS BOOK!

I bought this book recently in order to plan our Nuptials which is due to take place early 2010. My Fiance and I wanted to select the readings and other passages but not just by browsing through Catholic websites but by really understanding what the readings mean and convey. We came across many references to this particular book and decided to purchase it ourselves. It is really helpful in terms of providing an explanation of the readings as well as anecdotes from "real" couples. We find this book really helpful and think its a really handy book for couples planning their wedding. The entire format of the mass and prayers / liturgy and Rite of marriage (along with options) is included making it easier to decide. The explanation is simple and easy to understand.

I loved the opportunity to review a variety of readings and pick those that are meaningful to my fiance and me. Some are very traditional ("a silent wife is a gift from God") but a sufficient selection was provided to allow us to create a ceremony relevant and meaningful to us. It would be nice if a new edition included some less conservative readings. Well worth the price.

Together for Life was simple and easy to follow. Unlike other Catholic wedding books that are concerned more about the letter of the law and not the couple, my fiancee and I found this book to be very refreshing.

For one, Together for Life gives the couple the option to choose which procession they want. Another book we read only allowed for a "liturgically correct" procession and did not give couples the option to choose which procession they would like.

I highly recommend Together for Life. Before you meet with your priest, ask him to use this book.

I have been using Fr. Joseph Champlin's booklet, "Together for Life" as pastor of a Catholic parish for over a decade to prepare couples for marriage, and it has been universally appreciated and enjoyed by every couple. It is clear, concise, has all you need to prepare for the ceremony and is user-friendly. Just ordered more, since I had run out.

Fr. Joe has two versions - one for the wedding inside Mass and another for the wedding ceremony outside Mass. The first gives many choices for the Scripture readings from the Old Testament, Responsorial Psalms, New Testament readings and finally the Gospels. Fr. Joe gives thought-provoking ideas after every reading as suggestions for homily material. You'll like it.

Not a bad resource for those trying to set up a catholic ceremony. Good sampling of readings to choose from. I'd recommend this to someone struggling for inspiration on setting up a catholic wedding.
