Toiles for all seasons: Elegant text, illustrations lack quality,
This review is from: Toiles for All Seasons: French & English Printed Textiles (Hardcover)
This elegant little book presents a thorough overview of the relationship between European copperplate- and roller-printed cotton fabrics of the late 18th - early 19th c. known as "Toiles de Jouy" and original printed sources (etchings and engravings) that likely served as inspirations or models for these fabrics' designs. The author, Starr Siegele, had masterfully woven her own original research into the framework of the now firmly established subject. The quality of illustrations, especially those reproducing actual textiles, leaves much to be desired.
