I purchased this potty strickly on the customer ratings and was not disappointed. It's very sturdy, enough so that even my husband can use it as a seat when sitting with our daughter. This potty is sturdy, attractive and seems comfortable BUT it has not been great for my son. The urine guard is too low and it seems to have too many parts. Urine regularly gets sprayed across my bathroom floor making a mess or it somehow goes between the removable seat and the potty base and gets under the potty. That makes an even bigger mess because then you have to...

I purchased this potty strickly on the customer ratings and was not disappointed. It's very sturdy, enough so that even my husband can use it as a seat when sitting with our daughter. All parts are very easy to clean. I started her training at 15 months, just by keeping her potty in the bathroom and having her sit on it (with her clothes on) every time my husband or I went to the bathroom. She soon got the idea and was sitting on it without a diaper. Because it took so long for her to go, we used the entire unit, but it didn't take long until we started just carrying around the padded seat for her to use on the adult potty. PURCHASING THIS PRODUCT WAS WORTH IT, EVEN IF WE'D ONLY GOTTEN THE PADDED SEAT. I bought a second seat from another manufacturer to keep in our other bathroom so we wouldn't have to go up and down stairs to fetch it every time she needed to go, but it isn't NEARLY as nice. The Primo seat isn't just a piece of plastic with a hole in the middle. It's thin and contoured to the shape of a little one's bottm. It fits snugly on the adult potty. It has rubber pads and plastic pegs on the underside to keep it from slipping when she sits down. I also like that either a boy or girl can use it, without extra parts to assemble or disassemble. There's a small rise in the front for boys, but it isn't so high that it gets in the way when the child sits down.
Very sturdy, very easy to use and clean. Can't say enough about this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars perfect!, April 12, 2006
This review is from: PRI 4-In-1 Soft Seat Toilet Trainer and Step Stool White with Pastel Blue Seat (Baby Product)
I ordered this potty chair after seeing the others all had some negative aspects. This seat is perfect! My almost 2.5 year old daughter took to it immediately. It's not too small (she's very tall) but not too big (she has a petite bottom). It cleans up easily, and is not so lightweight or small that it becomes a toy for her. The seat part itself comes off to use on a regular toilet, and has handles for the child to steady him/herself. The bowl insert is large and removes easily for cleaning. There are also handles on the base that overlap with the handles on the seat so you can easily pick it up and move it. The lid closes "just like mommy's potty" and becomes a wide flat step stool. Perfect product!

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice sturdy seat - too many parts, June 17, 2007

This review is from: PRI 4-In-1 Soft Seat Toilet Trainer and Step Stool White with Pastel Blue Seat (Baby Product)
We're on our 6th potty seat, in search of the perfect potty chair (after 2 kids), and this is almost perfect. I love that the 'boy' part in front is molded in to the seat, unlike another we had with a detatchable spray stopper that was used mostly as a toy, and eventually was lost.

It also seems fairly comfy. I thought it would be a bit more cushiony than it is, but it's not bad. It's mainly just a thick rubbery type plastic for the cover, which detaches from the bottom white piece. ...and there in lies the problem. It regularly comes detatched from the white part with the handles, and pee gets in the grooves, and it becomes a pain to clean. It's also kind of frustrating to put back on, so usually I just lay it on there to save time.

Other positives: It's stable, doesn't move much when he's on it. It's great as a step stool, and it's definitely large enough for my tall toddler.

All in all, not bad, but I wish I could find a potty seat with fewer parts to mess with, since it gets used several times a day.

4.0 out of 5 stars Used it the 1st time!, January 5, 2007
This review is from: PRI 4-In-1 Soft Seat Toilet Trainer and Step Stool White with Pastel Blue Seat (Baby Product)
My twin toddlers love this potty chair & so do I -- easy cleaning/dumping, sturdy for sitting & standing.
One minus -- my son likes to pull the cushion portion off of the seat(while he's sitting on it). Annoying. Behavior-wise, we're working on it, but I think the manufacturer could have made it a bit more difficult to remove.

I bought this product because it has two most important things I am looking for: portable and the splash guard. My son feels very comfortable with it that he has been using this since last August when we got it. The parts are all plastic for easy cleaning. The cushion part of the seat and the the splash guard are all one piece, unlike some other potty seat where the splash guard is an attachment. So that's very easy to clean. The entire potty can be disembled to be cleaned and sanitized from inside out, no hard to reach spots. The seat is soft and contoured with oval opening which is best, unlike a lot of potty I found with a circular small opening. The seat can be put on adult toilet seat which I started training my son after several use to avoid cleaning the bowl. The only thing I wish is that this product comes in just the seat without the bowl, then that would be even better!

What else can I say? no frills or bells and whistles. What do you want for something that's going to end up with pee and poop all over it? It worked great for the potty training thing. I stuck it in the living room (on a hard floor) so that my son would actually stop what he was doing to use it. Then every few days , i moved it closer to the bathroom. Now he doesn't use it anymore except as a stool to use the grown up potty. Hey, one less thing I have to clean, right? WHen it first came, I was expecting it to have a "cushy" seat, that's what I think when I see "soft". It's really just a rubber cover over a plastic seat. it's easy enough to wipe down after each use and I really cleaned it every night after he went to bed, as well as the floor underneath, but he's a boy - not expecting everything to be contained - if his dad can't do it, why should he?:)

5.0 out of 5 stars My daughter loves sitting on it, and it's very flexible, April 28, 2008

The best thing about this potty is that my daughter loves sitting on it. At only 14 months of age, she started sitting on it before bath time, and at 15 months, she started using it for the first time. I've seen many children afraid of the potty, and I think this little trainer has played a big part in making her comfortable with sitting to go. We plan on fully training here when she turns 18 months old this summer, and I think she'll be ready. A little potty like this is perfect for learning.

I've only used this one, so I can't say how it compares to other little potties. I'm sure many other are really good too, but I'm completely satisified with this one. In fact, I ordered a second one for our second bathroom so that our daughter can go in either.

When comparing with other little potties, you might like to know the following:

* It's a good size. It's not too big. Our daughter is small for her age and she still fits. It doesn't take up much room in the bathroom. It's also not too small, as there seems plenty of space for a larger child. Any child too big for this potty is ready for a full-sized toilet.

* It cleans up easily. Just live the top off and wipe out the bottom (or wash it in the tub if it's really messy).

* The whole thing, while made out of plastic, is surprisngly sturdy.

* With the lid closed, it doesn't look like a potty, and it can be used as a stool. In fact, our daughter really enjoys opening it herself when she wants to use it. The stool is very sturdy.

* The top comes off and can be placed on a real toilet for a good transition. We haven't used this yet, but I'm glad I don't have to buy a separate product when we get to that stage.

Altogether, I'd highly recommend it. I don't know how it could be more useful in potty training.

This is a very convenient training potty to use and clean. The seat simply lifts off and the inside bowl lifts out to clean. My daughter is only a year old and I worried that it would be a bit big for her (she's also on the small side), but she seems fine on it. She will sit on it for a long time as long as I'm there playing with her. The seat is a pretty soft rubber. We haven't had problems with it sliding, tho she's not big enough to try to get on herself, she has successfully been able to get up by herself without any problems.

I have never written a review on Amazon but after seeing all the positive reviews on this potty I felt I had to. I really don't like this potty at all. I bought it after reading all the great reviews but now I wish I hadn't without looking at it in a store first. My doctor told me to let my son play with the potty to get use to it and after take apart the tons o pieces so many times they stopped fitting back together well at all. Now the blue seat top barely sits on the potty. Its also uncomfortable for him and when he gets up his bottom has red marks from the rubber seat. Although i know a high splash guard can hurt a boy this one has NOTHING to keep the pee from going strait out and since my son hasn't gotten a hold of pointing it down yet it actually scares him and he thinks he is doing something wrong, There are also so many nooks and crannys keeping it clean is a pain. I will say as a step stool to reach the sink its perfect so I gave it two stars. I am going to go shopping for a new potty today in stores where I can see it first.
