A great Bratz Doll, December 29, 2004

I just got my daughter's May Lin doll and it is adorable. It doesn't say Tokyo a Go Go anywhere on the packaging, it is actually part of a World collection. It says it is "Far East" fashion. It looks like a blend of Japan, China, and American tourist style - overall well done. And it is just a toy.

It's a Bratz DOLL with the Bratz doll kind of style & my 7 year old had to have this doll the minute she saw it. If you or whoever you're buying for thinks Bratz rule this is definately one for the collection! She is absolutely beautiful & her outfit is cool & original!!!!

Hi im 13 and from japan my first name is Tsuruko but i live in americas and speak english as well as my native language. I know everyone says, 'it's just a doll, get over it', but as she is from the place i come from i was realy upset that MGA could not be bothered to research a pretty Nihongo name for her! :(
Mai Lin, Mei Lin or Mai Lin, however its spelt is NOT Japanese, as japanese people do not have L's in their alphabet (nor do they have c, v or x which Chinese people do have, though not V)! Everyone who reviewed and said that it is both Japanese and Chinese is wrong (I think iknow as i SPEAK it - none else so far has made a claim to that!)!!!
I know it is not deliberate but i am very let down as i fond of american toys and was looking forward to owning a kimono or yukata doll to be friends with yasmin, cloe sasha jade and barbie, madson chlesae and nolee (No Lee IS a chinese name! At least mattel are bothered).
Also, much detailings on the kimono are false. I have a festival Kimono for when i go Japan annually to attend Sakura (cherryblossom) viewing festivals. She does not dispaly any of the Geisha attributes or hair or makeup styling :(
her Kimono is simple and in a very basic style that could even be like the imperial Chinese concubine dresses :( it is not specifically japanese.
i have renamed her Sakura, as she has sakura on the gold trim! she looks like shes more from an anime or cosplay as her kimono is basic and unrealistic
if your daughter thinks she is a pretty doll i cant see why not buy it for her! Just make sure she can separate chinese and japanese cultures as that is more important than any doll. she is very pretty.
