5.0 out of 5 stars The Story Picks Up the Pace!, June 20, 2005
By
This review is from: Tokyo Mew Mew, Vol. 3 (Paperback)
By now you have all heard or Tokyo Mew Mew. For those who haven't, here's the lowdown: A group of five girls fight crime using their animal powers that where given to them via an experiment gone wrong. Now the girls must fight an alien race that wants to take back the Earth via polluting it even worse then we have and fighting off the race's minons as well.

While the first volume left me almost regreting picking up this series and the second volume made me taking the pervious statement back, I eargerly dove right into volume three. Now the story finally picks up the pace and gives the read all the reason to continue the series!

In this volume, the girls are on a quest to discover the Mew Aqua, a powerful element that can purify anything contaminated. While it maybe all work and no play, the group finally gets some downtime by going on a cruise that Ryou, the girls' mentor/boss, is holding. But trouble is never far away as Kish, leader of the alien race, crashes the party. Meanwhile, Ichigo continues her troubles with Masaya, her crush. Does he know about her secret identity or not?

What I enjoied the most from this volume is that it has given the chance to start flushing out the secondary characters. We get a chance to see shy Lettuce come over her cowardliness and we finally get to see the motivation behind Kish and his compainons' plot to take over Earth. These events helped the story finally take it's shape and made me want to keep reading. The art, as always, is udderly cute and adorable (thus so, you may have a craving for sweets after reading this series). I also liked how the romance between Ichigo and Masaya has improved. No longer is it forced nor cheesy, but it is starting to become interesting. I was starting to enjoy the interludes of the Ichigo and Masaya scenes, hoping that everything works out all right.

As for the negative aspects of this volume, my only complaint is the repetitive dialodge. How many times can you say "that's cool!" or a variation of it? It's as if Paris Hilton was the story editor!

Anyway, if you are a fan of "Mew Mew Power", the animated version of this series airing on the FoxBox, do yourself a favor and start reading the manga! It contains everything you love about the series, but it is played out much, much, much better! Tokyo Mew Mew is also a great series to get into if your a fan of Sailor Moon, Pretear, or any other shojo series.

5.0 out of 5 stars CUTE!, January 4, 2005
This review is from: Tokyo Mew Mew, Vol. 3 (Paperback)
Yet another sweet, romantic book from the Tokyo Mew Mew series. I just can't put a Tokyo Mew Mew book down until I read every well-thought-out page full of expressive characters and decently simple stories. Though some parts made me just a little tiny bit iffy about what ages should and should not be reading these books, I would recommend it to any female manga fan, and anyone looking for a cute superhero story. And guess what? Ichigo turns into a cat! And not just any cat, the cutest, big-eyed little cat you'll probably ever see! But can she change back to her human form again? Or will her kitty genes take over? Find out by reading this wonderful book!

5.0 out of 5 stars How sweet, July 28, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Tokyo Mew Mew, Vol. 3 (Paperback)
Best volume yet! I have only read up to three though! It is so cute when ichigo turnss into a cat. At the end something shocking happens (not gonna tell!) and there is some rivalry over the love of ichigo. two more aliens get introduced. A little confusing at the beginning though. What do you think is cuter, masaya and ichigo or ryou and ichigo? (...)

This is an okay manga in my opinion because its kind of like a waiting book. You know whats gonna happen, but you can't stop reading it. Also this book DOESN'T have a preview of the next book, so imma warning you! Don't expect to be able to learn anything, but expect to be able to read a GREAT manga!

4.0 out of 5 stars Yay for the mew mews!, January 18, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Tokyo Mew Mew, Vol. 3 (Paperback)
This book was pretty good, with the story advancing along well.

Basically, Ichigo has to find a way to hide her secret from Masaya, but he keeps showing up in places that she needs to transform! The girls all go on a cruise where more aliens show up and send out 'kirema animas' but they stop them. Ichigo turns into a cat when Masaya is around, and he takes her home. But the cliffhanger endings make me sad!! :(

The artwork was cute, just like before! If you have read the series so far, I recommend continuing. However, a warning to newcomers. The storyline is very confusing for people who haven't read the first 2 books, so I recommend reading them first.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tokyo Mew Mew Book 3, January 8, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Tokyo Mew Mew, Vol. 3 (Paperback)
This is about five girls. They are: Ichigo Momomiya (part cat), Mint Aizawa (part bird), Lettuce Midoriwawa (part porpoise), Pudding Fong (part monkey), and Zakuro Fujiwara (part wolf).
I noticed a big mistake on the page that introduces all the characters. Pudding and Zakuro's pictures are mixed up. It says Zakuro Fujiwara under Pudding's picture and Pudding Fong under Zakuro's picture. So it also says Pudding's name is Zakuro and she is "a cool and beautiful model." That is, obviously, not right. Pudding is not a model and she isn't really that pretty. In this book Lettuce gets a mermaid-like tail with the Mew Aqua when she jumps in the ocean to save a baby.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tokyo Mew Mew vol.3, October 17, 2005
This review is from: Tokyo Mew Mew, Vol. 3 (Paperback)
I loved this book! It was another cliffhanger though:( Ichigo turns into a little cat and gets taken home by Masaya! She runs out of his house while he sleeps and some fat alley cat tries to kiss her but she gets saved by another cat, Alto, but then he kisses her! But he did it to turn her human again. A lot more happens in this story but to find out what or how Alto knows Ichigo's secret you have to read this book!!!!
