Editorial Reviews

Review

America needs this book. -- Dr. Anson Shupe, Sociologist

I read this book just in time for a meeting with my family where there is concern about a couple involved in two very different faiths. -- S.T., Maryland

So much of it is common sense which seems to fly out the window when someone is concerned about religious groups. Good job! -- Kay Lindahl, United Religions Initiative

From the Publisher

We don't know if it happened on the 500th or 5000th call, but somewhere amongst the over 10,000 phone inquiries to the Foundation for Religious Freedom's hotline, it became obvious that a common-sense handbook is needed on how to handle religious conflict.

5.0 out of 5 stars Calm, rational book on the passionate subject of religiion, May 24, 2000
This review is from: Tolerance 101: Practical Solutions for Interfaith Problems (Plastic Comb)
In these days of bigotry and intolerance, Tolerance 101 is a perfect place to find a calm, rational discussion on the differences of religion in your group or family.

The media seems gleeful in it's sensationalizing of our differences, seemingly hoping to want to work the worlds population into a panic about the subject of religion. In this book, Tolerance 101, you will find straight, informative data about what to do if a loved one is interested in a religion that doesn't seem quite like the one you envisioned him/her becoming involved with. There are important questions to ask and answers that you are anxious to hear. So how do you get these answers without alienating the person you love?

And if you are interested in a group that your family or friends don't quite understand, how do you communicate your interest in such a way that they feel comfortable and happy about it?

Communication, as always, is the key and Tolerance 101 is full of effective ways to do just that. If you can't communicate with someone you love about something so important to their life, how can understanding be reached?

I found Tolerance 101 to be a very calming book on the subject of religion. If you are having difficulties on either side of this fence, buy and read this book. Aw heck, buy two - one for you and one for them.

I love this book! It's great! The book is very clear, interesting and persuasive. The examples are fascinating. "Tolerance 101" should be prominently displayed in every library, church, temple, mosque etc. in the country. This book provides a valuable service to people of all religious persuasions.

When a family member starts thinking differently that you, you could think you are alone. Or you could practice "Tolerance 101" and find out that son or wife or cousin is a brand new friend and an opportunity for your own growth. This is a wonderful how-to manual!
