Best price easily. Best tolnaftate cream?,

This review is from: Tolnaftate Antifungal Athletes Foot Cream 1% - 1 oz (30 g) (3 pack) (Health and Beauty)
There is no question that this is the least expensive of the tolnaftate creams on Amazon and presumably anywhere else. Brand name Tinactin is also 1% tolnaftate, so there is no potency or active ingredient difference at all and a single 1-ounce Tinactin tube costs as much as or more than these 3 1-ounce tubes. As tolnaftate is to be used for 4 weeks, twice daily, anyone using this is going to go through a lot of it so price will add up and becomes perhaps the most important factor in purchasing the product.
The cream itself is really thick! It's sincerely like thick Elmer's Glue in appearance and feel. It leaves the skin very tacky but so does Tinactin liquid spray, to a lesser degree, so I don't know if this is just a characteristic of tolnaftate itself or the thick cream or both. The cream needs to be massaged around, not simply spread around as if it was skin lotion. It has the consistency of hard grease. I use it on my triceps and make 5 very thin lines running from deltoid to elbow covering the whole of my tricep and then smearing from left to right to spread the stuff and then in circular fashion to even it out. Henry G. Shuler made a fantastic suggestion to combine this tolnaftate cream with hand lotion and then rub in. Works GREAT! I suggest using this method! I've only just started using the cream so I can't attest to its efficacy, but as long as it's labeled accurately, it should provide identical results to the much more expensive Tinactin. I am curious, however, as to whether or not other similar creams are so thick. I'd MUCH prefer a more lotion-like consistency. Back to cost for a moment. Factor in the shipping to Hawaii, where I live, and there is no contest! Even though this company ganked me on the shipping by throwing a much higher rate onto this order in my cart than is listed on the item page, the other tolnaftate cream sellers ripped me off by as much as $20+ for shipping, JUST shipping, for 2 or 3 1-ounce tubes! So these 3 tubes in total cost me less than a single tube of any other tolnaftate cream on Amazon. I give it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the super-thick consistency which may or may not be unique to this brand.
