2.0 out of 5 stars Where's the Toltec?
Perhaps I'd have been better off with Mr. Ruiz's Agreements, because this one left me scratching, where's the "Toltec" in this Way? The impression left is that the author has distilled and blended axioms and beliefs to her fancy. This in itself is not a bad thing; many "ancient ways" require a contemporary language for us to comprehend. But this book...

5.0 out of 5 stars There is plenty of Toltec, July 6, 2001

This book has truly changed my life - it is practical and full of wonderful tools. I read all of CC books about Don Juan and loved the stories but was clueless how to apply the philosophy to my life - this book showed me how. But there is a price - you do have to actually do the work - this is not a book you simply read and put on your shelf - it is a book that will stay with you for a long, long time.

I'm from Missouri and I am a show me kind of person - this book showed me how to let go of my limitations, my fears, and connect with myself in a profound way - the writing took time but as she says in five years you'll be five years older - how do you think you will wish you spent your time.

Susan is a wonderful guide if personal freedom is your desired destination. I had a few questions and when I e mailed her she responded with gentle wisdom and warmth. I have already bought copies for all my friends.

Give yourself a gift and while you're at it by one for a friend.

5.0 out of 5 stars You can change your life!, September 12, 2000

I just finished reading THE TOLTEC WAY, and I'm stunned by the vast amount of information that is packed into only 240 pages. It is a complete roadmap for anyone to transform their life completely. Of course, it is only 240 pages, however the journey may take years to complete. But, so what? It ought to be worth the effort to find happiness and freedom. Dr. Gregg has written a great book!

I read don Miguel's Four Agreements and loved it but this book takes you one step further - it shows you how to change your life in ways that are unimaginable. The teaching stories really moved me and made me think about life differently. Dr. Gregg thank you so much for writing this book and sharing it with me.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book will truly change your life, September 5, 2000

So many books claim they will help you change your life, this one really will. It made me feel things I hadn't felt in years. As I used the tools clearly outlined I changed the way I thought about things. I began to act instead of react to the events in my life. I am so grateful the author took the time to share her wisdom. At the end of the book she tells readers to feel free to contact her if they have any questions - and I know she means it - she answered my questions most graciously. Buy two or more books and share them with your friends or even better with the person that bugs you the most. I even sent one to my dad.

4.0 out of 5 stars Tracking your Power means also tracking out what you are not, April 24, 2002

This author know her stuff! And she teaches it so well! What left me amazed is the workability of her exercises and that she drives it home. Even if you are not familiar with the ancient Toltec wisdom, you shall find yourself very well versed as you get halfway into the pages. It has the cumulative effect of freeing you and leaving you feeling great. Easy to follow, yet you are left feeling you have come a very long way toward self improvement. Also look for the chapters on Intent and Secret to being happy. I enjoyed this book so much and would have even the pleasure of re-reading it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Practical application of esoteric knowledge, August 10, 2002
By
Susan Gregg is able to distill out the essence of this spiritual tradition and provide an inspirational and practical guide to achieving personal freedom. Also, unlike Don Miguel Ruiz, her focus is on dominion, the practice of seeing everything through the eyes of love. There is no "war" in her model, and this difference is quite significant. I highly recommend this book for anyone wanting to actively practice and transform themselves since this book will guide you if you are so inclined. After reading this book, I contacted Dr. Gregg and have been studying with her ever since. She is a wonderful teacher and guide.

But this book only left me starving for substance. Granted there are some beautiful anecdotes emphasizing the need for our harmonious existence with nature and eachother, hence a couple of stars...

5.0 out of 5 stars Impeccable, January 28, 2007
This review is from: The Toltec Way: A Guide to Personal Transformation (Paperback)
If you like the message and writings of Don Miguel Ruiz, you will probably like this book. Susan draws from the teachings of Don Miguel, but her descriptions of his teachings are distinct and from a more feminine point of view. In fact, my first impression after reading Susan's book was how her teachings balanced as much as they expanded upon his teachings.

I especially liked Susan's metaphorical "filter system," which she uses to describe how the ego protects us from our fearful symbolic minds, but also blinds us from our silent minds that re-introduce us back into paradise. The filter system is uniquely useful way of understanding suffering without a need for an outside cause for suffering.

Susan also clearly describes and outlines the main lessons and techniques that she learned from Don Miguel. These techniques provide specific activities that are not provided in Don Miguel's original writings. Her description of these lessons provide a more personal feeling into Miguel's teaching methods.

There are so many books and teachings that mix truth with what is not truth. Susan's book follows in the spirit and impeccability of Don Miguel. She writes simply and clearly from common sense. I consider "The Toltec Way" to be a wonderful gift to the human spirit.
