What did you do to the Ghosts?,

This review is from: Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon 2: First Contact (Greatest Hits) (Video Game)
I don't know what they did to the Ghosts, but I want my killers back. I was a HUGE fan of the original GR games for the PC, but I decided to give GR2 a try on the PS2.
A typical Clancy squad-based shooter, a cross between Rainbow Six 3 and Ghost Recon, but losing the good stuff from each. Missions are incredibly linear - one route to the objective, one way to get the job done, end of story. Your squad from GR has been reduced in size to a Rainbow Six fireteam of three AI teammates. Your teammates lack the skill and efficiency of the Rainbow operators, though. You've heard of the new "Army of One?" Get ready to be one - these soldiers can't shoot, can't move, and can't make a decision. A watched two of them blaze away for twenty seconds at a North Korean soldier standing up in the open and couldn't hit him. The story is weak. The pre-mission brief and planning are non-existent. Play is clunky, and you have very limited commands to issue your troops. Your own Ghost moves very clumsily. I want to stay a fan of the GR series, but they're making it hard... Attention design team! 1) More tactical options 2) Better command interface 3) Better pre-mission brief 4) Teammates who ACT like special operators 5) See Rainbow Six 3 for details

A Real Review,

= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon 2: First Contact (Greatest Hits) (Video Game)
The reviewers for the ps2 version of ghost recon two arent really seem like they have no knowledge of games at all. They exaggerated every con in the game, and left out every pro. IF YOU WANT A REAL REVIEW, READ THIS. Most websites are usually biased for xbox. I think it is quite odd when I see Ghost Recon 2 for xbox get an 8.8, and ps2 get a 6.6, I tried them and they both look, and play the same to me. If you see a low score for this game on ps2, you should question its legitimacy.
Now for the review... Ghost Recon 2 poses an interesting story about a war sparking with the US, and North Korea. The Ghosts are sent in to investigate and to take out any threats. It could have a better story, but this is good enough to make an exciting game. The game gets annoying at times when you have to restart mission because you got killed, sometimes theres some trial and error in it. The Graphics are way, way better than the reviewers say they are. The characters and enemies are in very good detail. Better than the smeared faces and mish-mashed graphics of jungle storm. I played this game with an open mind, (like I usually do with games, instead of finding every last flaw like websites and certain reviewers on amazon) and found it fun, but not as fun as MGS3, or KillZone, or Socom II. There are some pretty intense firefights in levels sometimes, you need to direct your team to throw grenades, provide cover fire, or move in on them to win these battles, or you'll get wasted. Run and gun does not work well, you need to take cover, and move from cover to cover to survive. The game is like Socom a lot. The graphics are good, the gameplay is fun and if you like Socom I or II, you gotta check it out. You really feel like special forces at times, sneaking in on them, and getting past the enemy with ease. I shall end this review with pros and cons Cons -The AI could be better, but hey, the game is still kick ass. -The game doesn't suck you into the battle as much as Socom 2, or Killzone. -The bullet affects are choppy at times, but it doesnt destroy the game. Pros -The ragdoll physics are perfect, no twisting body parts, and no flipping around from a gunshot like in Shell Shock. -The gameplay is fun, and it can get pretty intense sometimes -The sound and music is great, one of the best I've seen for a game lately -You really feel like special forces when your fighting an enemy sometimes I conclude that this game is worth being on your wish list for the holidays. If youve never played or really got into Military games like Socom, KillZone, or MGS3, you should rent it. Even rent it if you like those kind of games just to be sure. Thanks for reading my review, and Happy Holidays! :)

What happened to the GHOSTS!? Dissapointed completely..,

This review is from: Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon 2: First Contact (Greatest Hits) (Video Game)
First let me start by saying that I LOVED Ghost Recon 1!Ghost Recon 2 however, is a nightmare, and I am completely disappointed. Why? The first and foremost reason is that GR2 has completely lost is sense of intelligent stealth Recon game play. When playing against the computer in campaign mode you are forced into a pidgeon hole entry consisting of a hail of bullets from the enemy on each mission! No more going through the mountains to stealth kill or snipe you enemy! No more suprise attacks. No more traveling anywhere you please on the map! You are literally forced through a tight one track space every time to reach the enemy!! This allows your enemy to see you coming every time a mile away! For this reason the game play is impossible and very unrealistic; any small combat military team would not enter a hornets nest though the front door as you are forced to do with this ridiculous game! One star is for the increased intelligence of your combat team members, and increased graphics. However little help they are when your out numbered 10 to 1 and forced to fight the enemy head on. In other words when you see that valley or path through the woods to suprise assault you enemy, forget it, you can't go there. Every possibility to improve Ghost Recon 1 was ignored by eliminating the ONE BASIC ELEMENT OF small team U.S. Special Forces combat missions; the element of suprise and stealth. Second of all the action character you play in this game is slow and clumsy; the enemy engages faster than my guy will move! I find my self yelling at my guy; get up and shoot!!! This game is like a boring slower version of Duke Nukem! Excuse me while I whip this disk against the wall. For the creator of this wasteful game: Go back to the drawing board you; what were you thinking!?? Bring back the realism and stealth.. PLEASE! The Ghosts are gone! Purchase this game if you love the feeling of going down a ONE WAY street, THE WRONG WAY, and getting shot at!
