I just bought this game yesterday and it rocks!!!! The single player is awesome but what i love is online play. So many awesome people to play online with. Some of my buddies from GR 2 are on this game. The graphics are PS2 graphics. The only thing I dont like is instead of 16 players online they have 8. This is a good game for anyone who loves war games or Firsr person shooters. This game was first on the 360 but i am so glad its on the PS2. This is a verry fun game to play i highly recomend it

Ghost recon advanced warfighter is AWESOME! IT features both future and modern day weaponry. Also it has a much larger selection guns. Another thing that i thought made the game even more fun was that a lot of its key features are based of the Objective Force Worrier (OFW) witch is being develeped by the US Army. It's the best ghost recon game ever! If you liked any of the other ghost recon games buy this. You'll love it!!

I just rented the game today and I'm hooked on it. I have Ghost Recon Jungle and that brought me into the games. I read most of the peoples reviews, but rented it anyway. I began to play and yes the enemy soldiers do indeed skip frames, just as the other games did, but I got over that pretty fast. In some cases it takes awhile to take down an enemy soldier, which kind of stinks, but all in all the game play so far has worked to my advantege. Also the game dosn't have very bad graphics, and their better than the past few Ghost Recon games. I'm not saying the graphics are amazing, i'm just saying that they work, if you know what I mean. It's a fun game, and so far i've enjoying every bit of it.

When you think of Ghost Recon or even Tom Clancy video games you think of "STEALTH" missions, well this game doesn't have much stealth at all. With the "ABILITY TO SWITCH" between stealth and just full on "ATTACK" it isn't really stealth at all, your partner in most missions just stands around waiting for your orders, but if you choose "ATTACK" mode than your partner just does most the work and that isn't fun unless you are a "lazy bum" and like doing just about nothing. Plus this game doesn't even have "TWO PLAYER" game play although it has online play it still is a bunch of "BULL"!!!!!!!!! Overall I rate the fun of this game a 3 and the game overall a 4.5. So this game might be a good buy. Written by: jaja D.

By my son Charlie, age 9: I think this game is awesome. It is one of the few I always play. All of the weapons are great. It is easy to play and my friends always want to play it when they come over. Even though it is a one player game, it is easy to switch off and let others play. This is one of my favorite games.

Previous reviews talk about how bad the graphics are for the PS2 edition. What are you expecting? To be plugged in Matrix and get graphics that are totally lifelike? You whiners don't know how good you've got it. The graphics are better than the original Ghost Recon for PC. If you like FPS's and you liked the original Ghost Recon, then you're going to enjoy this game.
I prefer using a mouse and keyboard interface for FPS's but I adapted quickly to this. If you've come to this page looking for a Ghost Recon title for your PS2, then you will NOT be the least bit disappointed with this title.

Well at first the game looks and plays really good...but AIs really sucks! if you want to have the game to follow the story line then buy it. I like several missions, but certain parts of the game makes me angery...Get the xbox 360 version..much better!

I personally have this game on the Xbox 360 platform. I purchased the PS2 game as a Christmas present for a friend's kids. They love it. It was a hit straight out of the box for them.

No split-screen co-op mode, sluggish single player... semi-auto?,

My daughter and I were really jazzed about this and then there was no split-screen co-op mode. The original, Jungle Storm and Rainbow Six 3 all have a two player, local-only mode so we were expecting one. No joy.
We say, "Ok, so single-player and take turns! No problem.". Maybe we have been playing super-sneaky Rainbow Six too much, but not being able to crouch, corner peek is rotten. In fact all the input feel sluggish, slow, lagging and loose. Not a fun game. This last gripe is probably my fault and I haven't investigated it any. The rifle is semi-auto. This should be a military issue assault rifle w/ full auto and maybe optionally burst. Even if there is a select fire toggle, why default to semi-auto? I think i saw it flash on screen, but could not make it happen. Maybe the game will grow on me like Rainbow Six, but I am doubtful.

A step up from GR2,

The Ghost Recon franchise, after the disappointment that was "Ghost Recon 2," returns to what works (including a first-person perspective!) with "Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter."
The plot is typical of a Tom Clancy game: that is, a [terrorist group/rogue warlord/enemy mole] is threatening [national security/a government official/to start World War III] and you are [an elite operative/special forces soldier] that has to stop him. Let's be honest - you don't buy these games for the plot, you buy them for the action, tactical action at that. GRAW delivers with good gameplay; good enough that the nonsensical plot (and rather swift, unfulfilling ending) is almost forgotten. The graphics are decent for the PS2, and the AI - both allied and enemy - is a good step above previous GR games. Allies will fire around corners, enemies crouch to fire a few rounds then dart somewhere else. This actually balances pretty well, because although the enemies are much tougher your allies now behave like the special forces they are (and not the inaccurate idiots that passed for them in GR2). The tactical aspect that was missing in GR2 is back here, while retaining its fairly easy use system. There are two ROE modes - recon and assault - as well as follow, guard and attack commands, all of which can be issued as "Go!" commands a la "Rainbow Six." Your teammate is smart enough to use discretion when it comes to grenades, planting explosives, sniping and the like. Yes, I said teammate, singular. With the exception of a few missions where you run solo, you command the two-man Alpha team. There is usually another team - Bravo - that is operating on the same battlefield with its own objectives, although you end up working together many times, although you don't directly control them. Various support methods - artillery, a sniper team and an Apache, among others - are available in some missions. They have limited functionality, usually to do a specific task to forward the mission, but can be devastating if used correctly. One thing I miss is the ability to pick your gear kit for each mission. In GRAW, you are given a set kit for each mission. Usually it works, but I find myself missing the sniper rifle more times than not. Speaking of which, the "hold-your-breath" feature to balance your shots is back, making sniper rifles useful again. The way that GRAW gets around the gear kit issue is you now carry two primary weapons into combat (a battle rifle and a sniper rifle/sniper grenade launcher/bazooka, usually) and two items (usually grenades/grenade launcher and a pistol/demo charge). Toward the end of the campaign, however, you're stuck with just a rifle, which makes no sense because if you order your ally to attack in those missions he can whip out grenades and a rocket launcher. Another thing that is missing is the ability to lie prone, although the environments you fight in, particularly the Mexico City missions that make up 75% of the game, are not conducive to lying down anyway, so you don't miss it as much as you would think. All in all, GRAW takes Ghost Recon back toward its roots, which is a good place to be. It just needed to go a hair further. |
