3.0 out of 5 stars Good Game-If you look past the faults( rainbow six fans only ), February 6, 2007
A Kid's Review
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Critical Hour (Video Game)
If you played one of the best Rainbow Six games, like Rainbow six 3 or Rainbow six raven shield or even the classic Rainbow six, then you should probably like Critical Hour. Ubisoft made this as in excuse for Lockdown, all-though a really fun and under apprieciated game, Lockdown didnt please the fans, so they cranked out Critical hour, with the missions from the original games "reimagined" with todays technology. Here is the problem: This game is fun and has some highlights, but since Rainbow six: Vegas came out, not many people will care criticl hour. And it has received negative or mediocre reviews. Why? I will make a list

Good

+ Old Team is back

+ Some cool missions "remade"

+ The guns sound good and are good ( if you have on high volume )

+ More action

+ Good AI

+ The Jungle/Cave/Facility mission is the best and the Water in the cave reflects, so cool and looks realistic. Best Mission!

+ Explosions do alot of damage and can cause blood puddles but....

+ Fun Multiplayer

BAD

- Graphics look washed, which is NOT todays technology.

- 7 SINGLE PLAYER MISSIONS! ( TOO DAMN SHORT )

- Sound, if not on high voulume, sounds muted and weak.

- 1 or 3 hits, your dead

- They took out ALOT of weapons( my M16, AUG, ETC ) and no sniper rifles!

-... the explosions look UGLY and Not Scary!

So you get it, the game is OK but has alot of Faults; Single Player being short - washed, fuzzy graphics - and the arsh Difficulty makes me give this game a 6 out of 10. On good side, it has those fun fire fights, the reflections from like the tiles and mirrors and water in the cave are cool, enviroments look OK from a distance, your characters actually look like special forces, the MK3 is the funnest gun in my opinion ( think a tommy gun with more ammo and a scope ) , and multiplayer is awesome. 4 player co op. SWeet! Sure you have xbox 260 but give some love for xbox. Oh, and the 6th mission, looks fantastic if you have a HDTV, although the level still looks like its washed out, but your in a jungle, so it fares better there. If you loved the classic Rainbow and you can look past the limp sound, the washed graphics, the brief single plyer, and the difficulty, you will have a fun game. 6/10

2.0 out of 5 stars Been there, done that..., March 18, 2006

This review is from: Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Critical Hour (Video Game)
I bought this game the day of release because I was looking forward to another Rainbow Six installment. I never finished more than 20 minutes of this game. Voice acting and music all sounded muted or canned, graphics look exactly like they did on Black Arrow. This is one of the few times I actually almost felt angry purchasing a game. There is so little innovation in this series and yet we all seem to keep buying the product like lemmings and telling Ubisoft that they are doing a great job.

A new mission? Wow...felt like every other mission I have played many times now.

New interface? Not really, felt the same in every respect.

New presentation? Didn't think it was really possible, but the sound is actually worse than on every other Rainbow Six title. Checked my settings because of how muted and dull this game sounded, but nothing had changed in the last year. It was actually this title that sounded poor, and this title only.

Don't bother with this one, everything is so noticeably average. Given the quality we have seen from this same series in the past, the only thing that would explain this is that the title was rushed for some quick revenue.

Save your money and rent it first...

4.0 out of 5 stars Nothing new but still solid gameplay, March 23, 2006
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Critical Hour (Video Game)
The original Rainbow Six is still my favorite game in the series and i'm pleasantly surprised to see a remake of some of my favorite levels of the original and Rogue Spear.

While the game is not very difficult (you can save your progress at any time during a level) or even long it's still alot of fun to replay missions with different strategies and weapons. (try playing through the maps with just pistols and no saving for an interesting challenge)

The gameplay is very well executed even though it plays very similar to the original PC version and graphically it's alot better looking then the pretty ugly PS1 release.

It's probably a better idea to rent the game then to purchase but if you're a big fan of the kind of gameplay that the original had then you're definately going to enjoy the experience.
