Rogue Spear - The Most Realistic Shooter Ever!, November 13, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Rogue Spear (CD-ROM)
I have had Rogue Spear for about 2 months now. And the best word you can use to describe it is REALISTIC. If you have ever played RAINBOW SIX (the game Rogue Spear continues from), you already have an idea of how awesome it is. But Rogue Spear is not what RAINBOW SIX was... it is much better. You are a counter terrorism team assigned to rescue hostages and successfully complete objectives in full-detail 3-D worlds. And the terrorists are not stupid. They will act to your every move, they will hide to ambush you, duck your shots, shout things at you, and take cover when they need to reload their guns. You can play missions during the day, night, or even with weather effects such as snow, fog, and rain! All of these things add to how realistic the game is. You can play over the internet in multiplayer mode with up to 16 people playing at a time! With so many weapons to choose from (frag grenades, smoke grenades, heart beat sensors, flashbangs, and more) you will be playing multiplayer over and over again. Multiplayer mode is so realistic, that when you hear a gun being fired, you can tell what gun it is. When you see a gun in someones hand, you can tell what gun it is. Frag grenades make more noise than ever in this unbelievable game! You can talk to people on your team in multiplayer mode using the BOUND KEYS that can be specified in your "OPTIONS" section of Rogue Spear. Order your team-mates to get down, take cover, cover your back, use a frag grenade, retreat, and much much more. No first person shooter even compares to Rogue Spear. Not even Goldeneye 007 (popular game for Nintendo 64). Rogue Spear is so real and addictive, like Red Storm Entertainment states on the back of the box, you will be shouting "tango down!" in your sleep for weeks! Don't wait... buy this game!

This is one killer sequel, December 4, 1999
This review is from: Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Rogue Spear (CD-ROM)
I loved Rainbow Six, but it definitely lacked some major points. First of all, I read the book, and I was dissapointed that the game didn't have snipers. Also, there weren't many guns at your disposal, and the repetitive use of one gun was common. But, Rougue Spear fixes both of these problems, giving a sniper and many more guns. Also, In the original, I really wanted a snow mission, but there was none offered. But, there are three snow missions in this game, and there are even foot prints in the snow, and you can see your mens' breath. Multiplayer is geat, but guns still poke out of doors, defeating a bit of the realism the game has. But, the game is super realistic, and I would tell anyone who thought that the first one was fun, to buy this game for themselves for Christmass!

Help! I'm addicted! Can't stop playing this game!, November 22, 1999
This review is from: Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Rogue Spear (CD-ROM)
This game is the best real life simulation combat game I've played (well not 100% realistic but it's as close as it gets, i guess). Actually it's the best game I've played, period. I tried Rainbow 6 once but didn't like it: too complex and took too much time to plan and set up a mission. This one is awesome: missions are already planned and all you have to do (if you want) is just plunge in the action. On the other hand if you like you can reject the default plan and come up with your own. Moving around is soooo much easier than with rainbow 6: you can move crouched and peek around corners and these are both great enhancements. I use them a lot and saved my posterior in more than one risky occasion. And of course there's "terrorist hunt": you can replay a mission with thirty baddies around and no hostages: it's the ultimate shootout-hunting match. It's worth every penny it costs! GOOD JOB GUYS!
