4.0 out of 5 stars Great, but RSV1 was a classic
I think most people would agree the first game was the better of the two. That being said, I don't agree with many people saying the game is bad or not that great. This is a really good game. Someone below had said it was short..... They must be used to playing oblivion or something because this game was longer than the first. I was glad to be done with it by the time the...

4.0 out of 5 stars Great, but RSV1 was a classic, October 26, 2008

I think most people would agree the first game was the better of the two. That being said, I don't agree with many people saying the game is bad or not that great. This is a really good game. Someone below had said it was short..... They must be used to playing oblivion or something because this game was longer than the first. I was glad to be done with it by the time the end came around.

The graphics are really nice. They are like an updated version of the first game. There's a few bugs that drove me nuts such as an enemy shooting through a wall that's supposed to be cover. Glitch. This game features shooting through cover such as wood or plastic, but i'm speaking of actual walls. You can see their rifle sticking out of it. Another annoyance is the fact that you can die if someone shoots your hands alot. I understand that you can do that to your enemy, but still.
The game only crashed on me once. I closed to desktop, restarted the game and was fine. The new patch seemed to work fine for me.
As for the setting, I thought the levels were very nicely laid out. Yes the casinos in the first one were really cool and fun, but there's alot more to vegas than just that. The story was revolving around catching someone, not just fighting your way through things.

Gameplay is the same. There's a whole experience/level up scheme to this game that can be a little cheap with the weapons. There should've at least been the same weapons available as in the first game. You end up having to level up and use certain strategies to get the items you want. It's annoying, but I thought it was cool leveling up. In this game you tend to get hurt alot more than the first one on normal difficulty. Even with the heaviest gear on I found I was dying alot more.
There's even a level where you're by yourself! It's neat because you can be more stealthy. Most of the time in both games you'll pass an invisible tripwire on the map and enemies start pouring from everywhere despite how quiet you were being. In this level, you can avoid alot of fighting simply by sneaking around and pulling out your trusty silenced pistol.
The end fight is about as obnoxious as the first game except if you die, you have to go through a cutscene over and over and over.

The story is good. I liked it. The main twist isn't much of a shocker, but hey, it's tom clancy. I was disappointed in some of the new voices for the same characters though. Logan's voice is different which just threw me off because whoever did his voice in the first game was fantastic and unique. This time it's just some american without an accent. I'm pretty sure Mike's (the heavy gunner on your team) voice is different too. Jung and Gabe is still the same.

All in all I liked the game. It dragged on a little towards the end, but I enjoyed it almost all the time. I'm glad I waited for the price to drop. Amazon is selling now for 20 bucks which is definitely a good buy in my opinion. Pick this one up. It's worth the play.

I really wanted to like this game. I was really hoping this was going to be a more polished version of Vegas 1. Instead the game seems to have started that way but was pushed out the door long before completion.

The story mode seems to feature more attention to detail than the rest of the game. Multi-player story mode is fairly nice as far as the maps and the gameplay. I really wish they had not trimmed it down to just 2 players in that mode. The AI teammates controlled by player 1, are not incredibly useful other than to act as cannon fodder, luring out bots that have phenomenal accuracy and psychic tracking abilities. The overall storyline is quite forgettable IMHO.

Other gametypes are hindered. Terrorist Hunt has numerous issues. The way the bots 'spawn' in is downright hideous at times. Features have been taken from the control of the player such as the number of respawns. There are countless bugs in the game some major, and many minor. They scream "unfinished" or "hastily slapped together" and it is my belief that this game was released before it was completed. These hinder what would otherwise be a very fun installment of Vegas.

R6 Vegas with new maps. The graphics are a little better but no Crysis. There are some bugs that have not been addressed. The campaign seems way too short and with ammo crates every twenty feet, its too easy even on realistic mode. The best part about the R6V2 is the co-op story, with dialog (as apposed to its predecessor). The ability to customize your character as you progress through the story was cool.

2.0 out of 5 stars The ideas in this game is great...But falls short., February 10, 2009

This review is from: Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2 (Video Game)
I've been with this game since it's release. Ubisoft made a poor port to the PC. Making it useless for PC Users. Patch 1.02 was alot smoother and less lag. With the new patch 1.03 it pretty much ruin the game experience. Because ubisoft wanted to add high stakes mode. (which again is another good idea but was incomplete.) It would be nice to have a map editor for the game to have a longer life span. It's sad to see Team Deathmatch servers have 4 players in one and 2 in the others. While games like Call of Duty and Valve games have tons of servers full of Players. Their IP takes care of the games they make. Ubisoft seriously needs to look at the actions other developers take in order to make a complete functional game. This game was not created for the fans. It would be nice if Redstorm entertainment came back. Ubisoft is just ruining the R6 Series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rainbow Six for everyone!, August 16, 2009

So in the past rainbow six games have been good yes but, the first Vegas was a turning point. In the past only die-hard tactical gamers would play them, and then bam vegas was just an awesome shooter everyone could play. And Vegas 2 is just that and then some. Vegas 2 keeps me coming back to it over and over again. If it's not the awesome online play, its the unlockable weapons, armor, camo and fun. I can't wait to see what comes out of this series next.

I live on the East cost and one of my best friends lives on the West cost now. This game has been awesome for the two of us to play. We enjoy playing the multiplayer online version of the Story mode. Its always better to play though the game as its intended with one of your friends. The functional play of the game is fairly realistic and not too difficult.

This game! man, will make you work to play it...if you dont know how to use windebugger tools you wont play it, it crashes everthing and calls suspect to your componets like; mem, VC, connect....but all it needs is updating everything in your system, and turning on services for it to keep you from getting kicked online...took me a week to tweak it but it runs good now....no players online 'dead' the terrorist hunt online is kicking...the graphics are sweet and game play on your system is great...

Well, it is a good game with nice graphic. Fun game play fast action. Enough maps to choose for multiplayer. Easy control, even I played with my kids thru LAN. The new game cost $ 49.99 but now dropped down to 29.99. Good buy. I got mine from ebay with 19.99 + shipping. about 24 bucks used. As I mentioned, you should buy this game if it dropped cheaper than 30 bucks. You won't disappointed, believe me !

2.0 out of 5 stars Where is Vegas? Expansion Pack Really, Bugs make it unplayable, April 25, 2008

My favorite levels in R6V1 were the casino levels, without that you would have just your typical generic shooter terrain and this is what we have in R6V2, there's absolutely no reason to have Vegas in the name. If you're going to have a "sequel"(Full Price Expansion Pack) to an amazingly beautiful game like the first one don't let us all down in the same way GRAW2 really blew it with a short storyline and the generic terrain.

I played the first one through many times, this one I don't see playing through more than twice so the value is just not there; like most sequels they get you with the first one and phone it in after that, don't pay full price for this game, you can get the first one for five dollars and get a much better experience. I would not pay more than fifteen dollars for this one.

The many bugs in this game make freezing and CTD a common thing that I just took the whole thing off my computer it was so frustrating. I patched to 1.01 and it was actually crashing more! This game has technical issues as bad as Gears of War did and of course ubi is no help. So avoid this one for a while if you are looking for a smooth game that is worth the price.

The controls are the same as the first one, which worked so well so why change it?

For me the customization is meaningless as I play single player only and to me seems a little tedious with the colors, etc. The weapons are all pretty much the same, one thing I didn't like was the locked weapons and the stupid points system to unlock them, please do this for online only where it makes sense.
It would make more sense to have the advanced weapons available at the more advanced difficulty settings during the single player campaign.

In sum Ubisoft and the R6V team really let us down with this one and don't reward them by rushing to buy this , even if you loved the first one and have waited anxiously for a sequel like me.

I have heard a lot of conflicting stories about this game but I have found it to be quite an enjoyable addition to the Rainbow family. It is certainly much better than the first Las Vegas edition of the game. I could never get that one to run properly, LV2 runs quite well on my low end machine after tweaking the video settings. In this game, health is renewable but getting out of the line of fire for a short perion of time. It also allows the pick up of different weapons during play and there are "equipment" bins throughout the levels where you can completely rearm. In addition to the story method of play there is also the terrorist hunt method which provides short games using selectable game maps but can be quite difficult. Throughout the game the player accumulates experience points which unlocks new weapons, armor, etc.

This to me is a much more versatile version of the rainbow series and is a lot of fun to play. The graphics are good, sound is good and there is a large selection of weapons to use. A bit of thinking and strategy is required to really win at this game. Blindly running around and shooting everything you see is not a way to win. Like all FPS games, the player is basically trying to shoot all the bad guys without getting shot himself. But the team members and the necessary strategy to win makes this one a cut above most shooter. Very enjoyable.
