The Story So Far
The terrorist threat to Vegas is still five years away, but the seeds of deceit are soon to be planted. And you, unknowingly, are about to play a central role.

You are Bishop, leader of Rainbow's elite Bravo Team. You've been ordered to a desolate observatory where a hostage stand-off is underway. Your mission is straightforward: infiltrate the observatory and protect the hostages should negotiations fail. But you're experienced enough to know that things have a funny way of not going as planned...

2010 - Las Vegas, Nevada
The tragic events at the observatory are now a memory, but the terrorist threat in Sin City is very real. While Logan Keller is in pursuit of Irina Morales in Mexico, Six has ordered your team to Vegas. There, terrorist mastermind Alvarez Cabrero is hatching a scheme to bring Sin City to its knees—and it's up to your team alone to stop him from turning Vegas into a devastated inferno.

Return to Sin City for the last time in Rainbow Six Vegas 2 and put an end to the terrorist threat. There, you'll unravel a web of betrayal that will take you beyond the events of Rainbow Six Vegas. At a remote hideaway you'll witness the astonishing conclusion that will bring an end to the crisis in Vegas—once and for all.

About Team Rainbow
Team Rainbow is a multinational task force comprising counter-terrorism experts from around the globe. Equipped with state-of-the-art weapons, Team Rainbow is deployed during terrorist crises. When all other attempts have failed, Rainbow is brought in to save the lives of innocent people. They do not negotiate with terror. They destroy it.

Rainbow began as an idea shared by John Clark and Domingo "Ding" Chavez. Clark, a former Navy SEAL and CIA operative, met Chavez during a covert operation in Colombia. During the operation, Chavez was rescued by Clark. After that mission, Chavez joined the Central Intelligence Agency. Clark and Chavez developed a mentor-student relationship over the course of several missions together.

Rainbow was created in 2000. Ding Chavez was made a Team Leader and began recruiting counter-terrorism operatives immediately. Experts in close-quarters combat, demolitions, electronics, surveillances, and reconnaissance were recruited. Snipers, hackers, soldiers, policemen, and contractors were all brought to Hereford, England, where Rainbow shares its headquarters with the British Special Air Service.

5.0 out of 5 stars Should be better, March 21, 2008

Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2 (Video Game)
A fantastic follow-up to the best FPS in history. Halo 3, while it had a fantastic story, just isn't nearly as good as the Rainbow series in terms of gameplay. I'll start with the positives...

The weapons are fantastic. The way they shoot, the way they sound, and the way they look. They added a few new weapons, but I'd have liked to see a lot more. In addition, only being able to put one attachment on is a little silly. If you put high cap magazines on, for example, you can't have a scope. Unrealistic to the point of being silly.

They allow us to once again play cooperatively via split screen, online, or system link. THANK YOU! So few devs are letting co-op play get the attention it deserves, and they wonder why their games don't sell.

The new leveling system is wonderful. In the first game, the only way you could unlock the cool looking gear was to play versus online. And guess what? Not everyone likes to do that. This version allows you to get all the experience either online in versus mode, or playing the Co-op story or terrorist hunt.

Wonderful multiplayer options. You have your story, of course, and terrorist hunt, which gives the game unlimited replayability. The new online modes are cool too, if you're into that.

A few "negatives" for the game. First, the difficulty. Some of the silly reviewers found it so difficult that they gave it only one or two stars. Apparently they felt it was just that bad. The game is certainly more difficult than the first game, it sort of has to be. It had to be balanced to allow multiple human players. So although it may be a bit tough on single player, it is perfect when you have your buddies playing with you.

The player customization feature is nice, but unusually limited. In addition, the facial features like facial hair--all look the same. The pictures look different, but when its mapped onto the actual character, they don't really look any different at all. The goatee version--doesn't even have a goatee, lol. This is a mild complaint, because with camo and gear on your head, you never see the face much.

Not a lot of new weapons. Some people may not like the new "kit" system, but I think its pretty nicely done overall.

In a way it does feel like an expansion, as there aren't a lot of new features, but who cares? The first game was the best ever, and I'm perfectly happy having a bunch of new levels to play. They did add the sprint button, which is nice as well.

The BIG problem with this game was one that they claimed to have fixed after the first game. The spawning problem. For those of you who don't know, it is not uncommon at all for terrorists to appear, as if by magic, right in front of you--or behind you, in a room you had just cleared. Instead of populating the map with terrorists at the beginning, they sprinkle them in throughout--there is really no excuse for this. It is lazy game design and purely irresponsible.

And their idea of "difficulty" levels is just as bad as everyone else's. Instead of the logical thing, throwing more enemies at you, they just take away half of your ammo and reduce the number of respawns. Again, lazy design. I would have liked to change my rating from five stars to only 4, or even 3.5.

Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2 (Video Game)
After playing this game for the past 5 hours, I must say that overall I am less than pleased. In my opinion, this would be better off as a $29.99 expansion pack to Vegas 1. There is not much new here to truly consider this a stand-alone sequel. Too much of it feels "carried over" from Vegas 1. Even some of the online terrorist elimination maps are identical. I do like the new leveling system, but that's about the biggest new feature on this game worth mentioning. If you loved Vegas 1, then you will obviously love this game, as it feels like a continuation of the original. As I stated in my title, I guess I was expecting more new features that would make this stand apart from the original.

3.0 out of 5 stars No BS, just the truth, March 20, 2008

Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2 (Video Game)
This game is fun, but as you're playing it, you'll realize it's a lot like the first Vegas. You'll have a feeing of "been there, done that" except that the first Vegas was intense.

There's new improvements in RSV2, like a run button and the actual number of grenades and explosives your teammates are carrying.

The only real problems with RSV2 are ugly environments, AI sometimes acting strange, and lag. Sometimes the game gets so laggy that it's literally choppy, especially when smoke is on screen.

Rent before you buy it. It's a good game, but it won't surprise you or feel like a must-have.
