This is Exactly what a sequel should be!,
By Matt Mabry (Dexter) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow (Video Game)
WOW! This is SUCH an improvement on the last one. The graphics are so much better and it's just more fun to be sniping people from a jungle bush than to be split jumping and shooting out a bunch of lights. Alright there is still no feeling in the world like having a guy 3 feet in front of you, and practically breathing in your face, and he can't see you. it's really fun, but nerve-wracking. This game's missions take you all over the world, from a speeding train in France, to Israel to a remote Jungle. It really gives the game a sense of reality and it's fun to experience the different places. Ubisoft has really made a Gem here, and it seems like they really listen to their customers, becasue they have added the SWAT turn, the half split jump and Hand shooting. It just adds another sense of reality to your game to be hanging upsidedown and shooting enemies, or split jumping 3 feet above an enemy and then fly down to knock them out. In this game, there is a lot of enfasis on using Non-Lethal force, as in knocking them out or hitting your enemies with "Sticky-Shockers" (One of the many cool gadgets you can use with the SC-20K (Sam's new primary Sniper/Assault weapon). This adds a real sense of reality to your game and sets it apart from other games such as 007. And it's all hands on, so you have to sneek up behind someone and then grab them and take them into the shadows and knok them out. If you're not foaming at the mouth over this game by now, it's not for you. Oh, I almost forgot to mention, there is an Online mode on this game, it's sort of like a deadly game of capture the flag, in the dark and with sticky shockers and machine guns. Alright, you play as either the ShadowNet or the Argus team. The Argus are like Terminators, with motion sensing goggles and heavy machine guns. And the Shadownet are like the Sam Fishers of Online, they have to sneek in and take all of the ND133's (Biochemical Agents) without the Argus knowing. It's so much fun on both sides and it's a real nail biter with the ShadowNet teams. Alright here's a review: Graphics: 15/10 the Water effects and the shrubs moving behind you, make it very realistic. Gameplay: 20/10 HUGE improvement on the last game, TONS of cool moves, and the Swat Turn and Half split jump give it an extra kick. Fun: 20/10 there is STILL nothing like hiding inches from an unsuspecting gaurd, and the ONLINE gives the game so Much. Difficulty: 10/10 the only thing average about this game, it's not really that hard, but it can be at times. Like when you're in a reoom with 3 SWAT men in there and you have to sneek past them...it's really cool. Overall: 65/40 this game is so much fun, it's worth buying. You MUST at least try this game out, it's tons of fun, and worth the money. This is the Epitomy of all Sequels to any game.

S.C. Pan. Tom. finally came to the PS2! Worth the wait when you consider the exclusive extras not found in the xbox & pc versions... including alternate pathways in some stages, ability to disable booby traps, post mission stats scoring screen, an all-new jungle mission, and listening to in-mission situation reports(via the USB headset, not included). I was able to buy the game on sale for just 11$ new from a local retailer. Don't worry, the beautiful graphics hold their own vs. the xbox version. Highly rated/Highly recommended. A must have for PS2 stealth-action fans. 1-4 players, rated teen for blood/violence/drug references, an "online" ready game. Nice job ubisoft and thanks for the extras!

Best first person shooter yet,
By "asilvestro" (Wakefield, RI United States) - See all my reviews

Splinter cell Pandora tomorrow incorporates all the pluses of the original and all the best parts of it are even better. You can do all the moves of the original, plus a few more. The graphics are even better than the first and there are several outdoor missions in which the sun either sets or rises gradually, changing the shadows in which you can hide. Speaking of hiding, there is now an on screen gauge that tells how visible you are to enemy mercenaries. There is now a unique multi-player that allows you and three others to play each other, X-box and PS2 have it, but I'm not sure about Gamecube. You can play 1 on 3 or 2 on 2; one side are the spies and the other are the mercenaries. Each are evenly matched, but each have different advantages. The spies can see from a third person view allowing them to be more aware of their surroundings while the mercenaries have a first person view allowing them to shoot more accurately, but they can't see behind or to the side of themselves. Each side has their own gadgets and each have their own weapons as well their own objectives, the spies have to complete an objective and the mercenaries have to stop them. The mercenaries have auto-matic weapons that can easily kill a spy but all the spies have are one shot pistols that can only stun an enemy, thus the only way a spy can kill a mercenary is either by jumping on him or breaking his neck. The mercenaries have the advantage in open combat, but their poor vision means that a spy can gain the upper hand with stealth, at least until they're discovered. This means that both sides need different strategies to win.

Pandora Tomorrow is one of the best Splinter Cell games in the series. The action is awesome and the stealth is so suspensful that it feels like your heart is beating 100x faster than usual! The AI on the guards is also very well done. I recommend this game to anyone who loves action video games!

This game is a really really good game. It has awesome graphics, the controls are great once you get used to them. The only thing is that it is really dark, but then it has to be. I thought it was really easy but it had some hard parts to it especially the last level. Probably the best game I have ever gotten, worth the money.

BEST GRAPHICS EVER!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow (Video Game)
Very good graphics. I'm not that far yet but it is so much fun! I personally enjoy taking the guards out from behind them. So far it's been pretty easy but I bet later in the game it will get very tactical. Right now i'm at the first part in Paris where the guards hit the alarm the split second they see me. But i'm figuring out how to beat it. If you get this game, you've gotta be real smart at tactical games. But, I'm only ten and I plan on beating all 32 levels in atleast one yaer.

Best stealth game on the market!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow (Video Game)
This is definitely one of the greatest games I have ever played in my whole life! If you like stealth games then buy this game. Pros: great realistic graphics, awesome stealth moves, long missions with check points, many gadgets and weapons. Cons: Long loading screens, multiplayer is only online, night vision has too be used at least half of the game, and only eight missions. Before you buy this game make sure you know that multi player is only on line even tho is says 1-4 players on the back of the game. If you havent already bought the game you should consider it!

I like this game a lot. It is fun and it took me 4 months to finish it. This game is not educational but it teaches you to be patient. Here are my pros and cons
Pros 1.Fun to play 2.Good gadgets 3.Good graphics 4.Online plays fun 5.Easy to control once you've had it a week or 2 Cons 1.Lack of guns (Only a pistol and an assault rifle with gadgets on and a sniper scope. And theres a few grenades and explosives) 2.Not much ammo (So you have to be wise with what you have) 3.Stealth can be boring Verdict: You will like this game but buy the new 1 Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. I have not got that but when I have the money to I will. Percentage out of 100 93% Sutible for ages 13+ Occupation 10 months (Because theres normal mode and hard mode) R.J from Britain

Back in 2003 when the first Splinter Cell game was released for the Playstation 2, I was one of the skeptics. Could this game actually live up to the hype it built up on the XBox? Well it did, and it didn't. Now Sam Fisher is sneaking his way back on to the PS2 with Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow. Though while it's a strong game, it still gives you the feeling that something is missing.
When I first loaded Pandora Tomorrow on my PS2 I was immediately struck by it's graphics. This game is a graphical achievement in the best sense. The environments are now less man made and more "natural". Grass sways in the breeze. Sunlight filters down through tree branches. There's alot of attention to detail in Pandora Tomorrow. Something that is new to the game is the addition of water. In certain levels, Sam Fisher will walk through standing water. The effect is rendered very realistically. This is probably one of the best looking games on the PS2 hands down. The only down side of the graphics is that some of the character models look a little too plastic. The sound unfortunatley doesn't keep up with the visuals. There are alot of audio drop outs, dialogue doesn't load at times, and the non-player character sounds often don't fully play. The sounds themselevs are crisp, but the events that trigger them are often at fault for these glitches. The gameplay unfortunatley is the weakest point of the single player campaign. Much like the first game, the gameplay is PAINFULLY linear in nature. You basically go from Point A to Point B, accomplish a task and repeat. There is one way to do something and if you don't find it, you'll have to resort to alot of trial and error. Also, after seeing how linear the first game was, I'm very disappointed that this game was designed the same way. With more and more games going the "free roaming" route, it's astonishing to me that why this game would be linear almost to a fault. If you've played the Hitman series where there are multiple ways to accomplish a single goal, then this can be quite infuriating. Again, much like in the first game the story is quite forgetable. It has something to do with Indonesian militants or something and a guy named Sodono I believe. Fake news reports move the story along but like in the first game, they do more to confuse rather than reinforce the action. The controls are exactly the same as the first game. If you've played through the first game, you can jump right in and play this one. Also a new addition is support for the USB headset for both online multiplayer and single player. The big selling point of this game is the online multiplayer, which requires a broadband internet connection. Unfortunately, with no Network Adaptor, I have yet to try the multiplayer games. Even with no Network Adaptor, the multiplayer tutorials are still available for play. The online combatants consist of Spys vs. Mercenaries (who play in first person). Spys rely on stealth while the Mercs depend on firepower. Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow, while good, feels like less of a "complete game" and more like an "expansion pack". Even though this doesn't sound like a positive review, the game still warrants 4 stars for it's graphical prowess. If you're unsure, give it a rental. It will give you a good stealth fix till Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is released. However I don't feel that this game warrants a $49.99 price tag. If you can pick it up on sale.

Best Action Stealth Game,
By john smith (st. pete, fl) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow (Video Game)
This game is awsome. The single player mode is greatly changed from the first splinter cell and the added online capability makes this the perfect game for an action fan. The fact that you can whistle and get a guards attention, is better than having to find a bottle or can, but tells you that ubisoft was thinking about the little things that would much improve this game. What is really awsome about this game is that it takes place more outside than the last game did. It includes jungles and rivers you have to travel through. The only problem is the lack of destructible lights, but I have 3 words... GET OVER IT. It is not that bad of a thing. A laser sight was also added to the hand gun for more precise shooting, because it is difficult to get a head shot with that big cross-hair that you were stuck with in the first game. The online capability makes this, by far, the ultimate game. You can play ass a heavily armed "argus" mercinary, or a stealthy "shadownet" spy. I prefer the spy because you can stealth up behind a merc and either choke them to death or snap their neck. SNAP THEIR NECK! That is freakin' awsome. The merc are not to bad either. Their hmachine gun can throw granades or blast a spy. I like the spys beacuse they have night and heat vision goggles. The mercs have motion sensing(not that good) and electromagnetic vision (ok if you are up close). Their is nothing better than hiding in the shadows and waiting for a merc to run by so you can silently snap his neck and wisper something in his ear (if you have a mic) right before the deed is done. gameplay: 4.5 - 5.0 lasting appeal: 5.0 Graphics: 5.0 Sound: 4.5 - 5.0 P.S. |
