I'm a big Shackleton/Tom Crean fan and now have 2 young children. It's a great way to share my interest with my kids in a way that they can better understand, until at least later when they can better understand the scope of Antarctic voyages/exploration like the ones of Scott, Amundsen and Shackleton. A great children's book for parents who are fans of Antarctic Exploration!

Inherited from cousins, my two boys really enjoyed this charming story. It introduced our family to the great Tom Crean, a little known polar explorer, who traveled with both Scott and Shackleton. Handsome, detailed illustrations and cheerful, engaging text evoked the Antarctic and made us want to learn more.
