Product Description

From the Manufacturer

Award-winning chef-restaurateur Tom Douglas, Riedel Glassworks, and Amazon.com introduce a stemware line that blends elegance and accessibility, making it a perfect choice for weeknight dinners or stylish cocktail parties. Created by Nachtmann, a division of renowned crystal company Riedel Glassworks, this decanter features a classic, elegant European design and a platinum finishing process for durability and shine. Decanting your favorite vino in this vessel exposes the wine to more surface area and oxygen, allowing the bouquet to fully develop to maximum potential while creating a visually stunning appeal, pour after pour. The 25-1/4-ounce decanter holds one standard bottle of wine and is dishwasher-safe. Tom Douglas by Pinzon also offers a set of Bordeaux glasses, a set of white wine glasses, and a set of Champagne glasses, all created by Nachtmann.

Tom's Tips

  • Most wines need about two to three hours to open up!
  • Make sure you rinse the decanter well to eliminate soapy odors.

I usually don't like relying on only one review for things I purchase, but took a chance anyway. The decanter arrived fine, looked good, worked well, other than the afore mentioned
drawback of a too narrow opening. After about three weeks it developed a 'speck' on the neck, one inch down from the top. This wound up being the same as a 'speck' on a car windshield,
because a crack rapidly ran around the neck in a near perfect circle. It is only one quarter inch from joining itself and can be felt both in and out. The obvious is going to happen soon and we are currently looking for another product.

I've bought a few decanters in my lifetime. I'm great fan of Riedel's glassware. This decanter is nicely shaped, beautiful and heavy glass, disperses the wines with a minimum of effort in trying to fill it, and is physically without any flaws (air bubbles, etc.). If I broke it (the only reason I've had to buy a few decanters in my lifetime) I would replace it with the identical model. In other words, I would recommend it to myself! 'Nuff said.

Beautifully designed and made decanter. Clean lines, heavy glass, and perfect symmetry. Although other commenters are slightly negative about the size of the opening, I think its the perfect size for pouring, and fine for filling. Bottom line, beautiful decanter that I would busy again.

This decanter is a nice shape, but the quality of the craftsmanship is poor. There are air bubbles in the glass and the base of the decanter is uneven. In the bottom, there is a large circular "glob" where the glass is thicker--it's is off center and obviously not part of the design. If I were in the market for this level of low-quality, I would have purchased a decanter at the local grocery store for $10... Not what you'd expect from an item that carries the Reidel name and costs $40. Not happy and will be returning the item.
