3.0 out of 5 stars A decent game makes for a decent licensed product November 20, 2012

Given that Frantic Antics is part of the never-ending formula of shoehorning cartoon characters into video games that clog release calendars with their insipid and often times forgettable gameplay, one might ask what makes this game so different. Well, I don't know how "different" Frantic Antics is from your run-of-the-mill platformer (I didn't experience anything here that was groundbreaking or truly noteworthy) but the game is decent effort that is free of the irritants that generally ruin lesser known titles.

While fooling around with the notion of purchasing Frantic Antics I was working with distant memories. I hadn't played or seen this cart in over a decade when it kept me entertained while I had the chicken pox as a child. I was only borrowing the game at that point and I eventually returned it to my friend. So while looking to fill those long-lost experiences missing from my current game collection faint recollections of Frantic Antics on the GameBoy bubbled up.

I have to say I'm really surprised how well the game has held up. There're a hitches to be aware of (activating the spring boots is kind of hit and miss as is controlling the scooter) but I can't get over how respectable this is for a licensed product. I know that doesn't exactly translate into a ringing endorsement - and there are MANY other games (GameBoy and otherwise) you should buy before buying this - but it's a worthy addition to a GameBoy collection.
