The animation itself is very well done, being on a par with1993's "Once Upon a Forest", and nicely conveys the variousmoods and emotions of the plot and characters. About the only real problem I noticed throughout was a slight continuity problem: sometimes Tom is barefoot in scenes where, a second before, he'd been wearing shoes. But this is just a minor thing.

While I'm not a "Pop-Country" fan, the music in this effort is, if not show-stopping, then at least pleasant to the ear without detracting from the plot and children will probably like some of the bouncier rhythms.

As a previous reviewer notes, the plot mostly follows the book with; as noted; certain concessions made to political correctness. But this does not detract from any of the characterizations or the "romance" of Tom's puppy-love-at-first-sight attraction to Becky Thatcher (and Amy Lawrence's transition from "woman-scorned" anger to resigned semi-acceptance of it is tastefully handled too) and the drama of Deputy Bean's murder by Injurin' Joe and his pursuit of Tom and Becky through Deadman's Cave.

So if you're a parent looking for a Video that both you and the kids might enjoy watching on a rainy afternoon, this is one that I can definitely recommend. (And if it gets the viewer [especially kids] interested in reading Twain's American Classics "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" and "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" too [as it did me!], then chalk that up as an added bonus!)

This is a terrific movie/cartoon that the whole family can watch. Rhett Akins and LeeAnn Womack are great. It has a wonderful soundtrack for adults and children alike. The music sends a good message as well as the story being a Mark Twain Classic.

If you grew up during the 80s and 90s with movies like All Dogs Go to Heaven, Secret of NIMH, Oliver & Company, The Aristocats, Cats Don't Dance, David Copperfield (Sheena Easton), The Rescuers, The Fox and the Hound, The Brave Little Toaster, and others, then this movie is most likely for you.

Tom Sawyer brought me the same special feeling as All Dogs Go to Heaven did about 20 years ago! Perhaps the most notable scene is where Tom and Becky get lost in the cave followed by an excellent song. Before entering the cave, Tom says it's "too dangerous for girls," to which Becky replies "you've got a lot to learn about girls."

I first saw this movie on YouTube and just had to buy it. Beautiful animation and great songs makes this movie a sure MGM classic to enjoy!

I was told about this video and decided to check it out. I was delighted with the high quality of the animation. The story was charming and full of interesting characters. Becky and Amy are my favorites. Probably the rarest treat of all, are the great songs that filled the video. Good music has been missing from too many animated movies in the past. I enjoyed this movie so much, I have told my friends about it and even sent out extra copies, I bought, to friends all over the world. They all enjoyed the movie. Can't ask anymore from a movie to be pleasantly entertained, this one does that beautifully.

As a huge fan of American animation, I give this Disney-esque version of TOM SAWYER an "A." The backgrounds in the film are so beautiful & the characters are well drawn, too; reminded me "so" much of Disney's older films (Robin Hood, Fox & the Hound, Jungle Book, etc).

The music is awesome; the songs are very well written and a pure joy to listen to!

I still love cartoons & animation. And this version of TOM SAWYER is an awesome film that both children & adults can enjoy together.

It is great. It should be called "Tom Sawyer: The Musical".
I loved it. Even though some reviewers don't like it, I did.
It is not just for kids. I am 48 years old and I love it.
In some reviews it is mentioned that changing "Injun Joe"
to "Injurin Joe" was done to be politically correct. I think
you are wrong. It was probably done because he was a bear so
he couldn't possibly be called "Injun". He could have been called "Injurin Joe" or "Grizzly Joe" or "Grizzly Bear Joe". They just happen to go with "Injurin Joe". I'm guessing since he was a bear it's the closest they could come and stay
within the confines of the book.

My four year old son absolutely LOVES this movie. He watches it over and over and was SOOOOO excited when he received it for his fourth birthday. It is a great little movie for kids.

Very cute movie, all of my children enjoy this movie and watch it over and over. They are 9, 6 and 3! So it is a good movie for the whole family.

Even through i haven't seen the movie i did buy the soundtrack of the movie, i did enjoy the soundtrack my favorite song on the soundtrack is Friends For Live by Rhett Akinks & Mark Wills and Light At The End Of The Tunnel by Lee Ann Womack & Rhett Akins. I have always love Tom Sawyer and since it's in cartoon mode i know it will be good to watch.

Tom Sewyar was never better then in this fully anamated spectacular that follows the adventures of Tom Sewyar [a cat],Rebel [a frog],and Huck Finn [a fox]. Tom falls for Becky Thacher[a cat]who just moved there,which makes his old girl friend Amy Lawrence[a cat]jelouse because she still loves him,but much later Amy falls for Huck.also listen for the all country music sound track.
