4.0 out of 5 stars Almost, but not quite too many plot lines, December 26, 2005
This review is from: Tom Swift and his Subocean Geotron (The New Tom Swift Jr. Adventures, 27) (Hardcover)
This story is packed with several different plot lines. Tom Jr. and his father are communicating with space creatures who are asking them to recover a capsule that was left on Earth thousands of years ago. There are two competing groups of space creatures and the "good side" is allied with the Swift group and the "bad side" is allied with the Swift foes from the country of Kranjovia. The capsule is buried thousands of feet under the ocean floor, so Tom Jr. invents the subocean geotron to burrow under the ocean floor to retrieve it.
There is also a race to develop an aquarium to house creatures that ordinarily live in the depths of the ocean. A wealthy man has left a large amount of money for the first group that can accomplish this task. With two groups of space aliens, the danger of the enemy being given a super weapon more powerful than any on Earth, spies and sabotage, ancient astronauts, exploration of the deepest levels of the ocean and Tom being named the King of Easter Island, there is a lot of action in this book. It approaches the level of too many different plot tracks, but never quite gets there.
