Fun Science Fiction for Youngsters,
By
This review is from: Tom Swift and the Visitor From Planet X [The New Tom Swift Jr. Adventures, 17] (Hardcover)
The late Isaac Asimov defined good science fiction as a story which falls apart if you take away the science. "Tom Swift and the Visitor from Planet X" passes this test with flying colors. I read the book when I was about 12. Like all the other "Tom Swift, Jr." books I read, this one is fairly well written. It held my attention because the lead characters accomplished their work by relying on their brains and not simply on their muscles.I won't give a description of the "Visitor". Suffice to say it is not like any other visitor to earth in books or movies. There is a decent subplot. As in good fiction of every genre the two plots eventually merge. There is even a good surprise ending. All in all I give it 4 stars for being decently written and very enjoyable for youngsters 10 to 15 years of age.

This review is from: Tom Swift and The Visitor from Planet X (Kindle Edition)
This is a very engaging story from vintage Science Fiction. I liked the old style writing and references. You can tell it was written in the late 50's or early 60's. It is a good book for younger readers just starting out with Science Fiction. I would recommend the Tom Swift Collection also.
