"I love..." Tom T. Hall's humanity and humor,
By
This review is from: Tom T.Hall - Greatest Hits No. 2 (Audio CD)
Another fine collection, mixing the funny with the fundamental. This album has the hits "I Love" and "Old Dogs, Children and Watermelon Wine" and "I Care" representing his sentimental side. Showing off his quirky tendencies are the sensational "Who's Gonna Feed Them Hogs" and "The Little Lady Preacher" and "Ravishing Ruby" and the kids' classic "Sneaky Snake" and "That Song is Driving Me Crazy." Don't think of Tom T. as a "country" singer---just think of him as Mark Twain with a guitar. Nice voice, nice stories, make you laugh, make you think, make you feel. What more can anyone ask for?

Each song moves me. Some are happy. Some touch my soul. Some tell a story. Some even combine these experiences. These are NOT "cookie-cutter" songs. And the question still remains: "Whose gona feed them hogs?"

The Old Storyteller!,
By
This review is from: Tom T.Hall - Greatest Hits No. 2 (Audio CD)
Tom T. Hall, from Olive Hill, Kentucky (pop. 1809), had 41 chart hit from 1967-1985, according to Billboard. He has also written many others, including "Harper Valley PTA". 8 of the 11 tracks on this CD made the Top 10 on Billboard charts. High points are "Country Is", "I Care", "I Like Beer" and most notably a wonderful "Old Dogs, Children and Watermelon Wine". The Tom T style is "storytelling" and this may not be to everyone's tastes. Listening to "Who's Gonna Feed Them Hogs?" may change a few minds. This reviewer would urge country fans to experience this singer/songwriter for the sheer variety of his approach to country. Somehow, it seems incomplete to recommend a CD to "round out your collection", but in this instance I believe such advice is justified.
