5.0 out of 5 stars Traffic antenna addon
This is a great product to add to your Tom Tom. I have the 730. This makes an already accurate GPS even more so. Don't hesitate, add one of these to your GPS. Well worth the money.

The first thing I will say is that once I eventually got the right RDS-TMC it was fantastic. Works like a dream in the Bay Area to get you around traffic. Anyone that uses I-880 or I-80 in the morning to get to work needs one of these. The first thing I will say is that once I eventually got the right RDS-TMC it was fantastic. Works like a dream in the Bay Area to get you around traffic. Anyone that uses I-880 or I-80 in the morning to get to work needs one of these. One morning it saved me an hour by getting me around an accident I did not even know was there until I was passed it, then I heard about it on the radio!

The only negatives are (1) that it needs to be plugged in to work so there is no listening to my iPod through the radio if I want traffic also. (2) It can take a few minutes (sometimes up to 5 mins) when you first calculate your route to find all the traffic info it needs when its set to automatic searching. I have not tried manual yet though.

Unfortunately the reciever sold here did not work with my TomTom as stated in the description. The ONE-130 has a USB connection and this one is a pin. It is not part 9V00.180 which is the USB one sold by TomTom.

[...]

So be careful. Check the connection you need. There are a lot of sites that sell this pin connection and say it is for the ONE series. There might be TomTom ONEs out there with pin connectors but mine certainly is not.

On the plus side though, the company was great and allowed my return and refunded my money very quickly. They say they are even trying to have this ad updated to make it more obvious.

1.0 out of 5 stars Useless, August 29, 2009

I can't speak for the rest of the country, but in the NY metro area, this product is worthless. It NEVER gives the best route or accurate delays. I was really excited for it to tell me the best tunnels/bridges & approaches, but it is just incapable.

Too bad. Don't waste your money.

3.0 out of 5 stars not for all, April 28, 2011

The description says this is for all TomTom GPS except for Go 740. Well, this is not for the ONE series either. I have a 130S and thought this would connect but it didn't. Be sure to research which ones this is for before buying it.

I bought this item back on March 09 and it worked very well for a year. When I tried to renew the subscription I found out that the antenna is not longer supported by TomTom therefore I have to buy the newer model and cannot longer use this one

2.0 out of 5 stars Inaccurate - only as good as the source, October 9, 2010
This review is from: TomTom USB RDS-TMC Traffic Receiver for all TomTom GPS Except Go 740 (Electronics)
First, I don't understand why this needs to be a subscription data service. It is over the radio, not from TomTom and widely available.
Second it is inaccurate. This type of data is always late and in some cases too late. I'm sure there will be some usefull events in the future use of this device however my first one is revealing. In the metro boston area there was some construction along the route. At 10:00PM at night it tried to reroute me around that area claiming a 45 minute delay. With plenty of options along the way I chose to ignore and continued. It was smooth sailing all the way home with no delays. I can't be sure it was from previous traffic , a friday night holiday weekend, or if it was the construction in the area but the data was flat out wrong. I'm suspicious of the construction and the influence that has on the data. It is one thing to save someone time but completely another to waste someones time. Should I be happy when it claims to save me 45 minutes when it is only giving me the runaround ? How would I ever know unless I betrayed it ? It might be difficult for me to overcome and trust this thing in the future.

Worked a couple of times then quit. The suction cups on the antennae were useless and in the way for installation. Of course, cutting them off voided the warranty.

The traffic receiver works great. It lets me know if I am driving towards a traffic jam and estimates the delay quiet accurately. I've used it in the Los Angeles and San Diego area.

Great accessory. If you do a lot of driving in large cities, you need one.
