Book Description

August 27, 2008
When Christian arrives in Egypt as the man Friday to an eccentric American, he's hoping to get his chance to make history and establish his name in archaeology. What he doesn't count on is meeting brash hired gun, Eric Lawless, and falling into an uneasy partnership. He thinks Eric is a boor. Eric thinks he's a prude. Sparks fly, leading to a night of passion that Christian has no intention of repeating. Too bad he can't resist Eric's rough charm. He's not ready for what their digging exposes either. The spirits of ancient Egypt are stirring, raised by very modern men, leading him, and Eric, into a dangerous game of cat and mouse. One where old ghosts and older gods send them on a dance of deception and terror deep in the tombs of the Valley of the Kings. Together, they must face their greatest fears, and their feelings for each other. Ancient artifacts, deadly snakes, and terrifying monsters stand in the way of what may be the greatest archaeological find any man has ever seen. Can they unearth the secrets of the tomb of the god king before they lose everything they hold dear?

5.0 out of 5 stars Nothing like a good Mummy story..., January 5, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Tomb of the God King (Paperback)
I was a huge fan of 'The Mummy' when it was released in the theaters, so I looked foreward to reading this story. I am happy to say I was not disappointed. What a great story. Written in first person with delightful characters and plenty of action. I only wish the story was longer, I did not want to adventure to end.
If you liked The Mummy, you will like this story. Just add a sharp mouth Englishman, a hot gunslinger, good m/m action and romance.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Story But..., February 28, 2007
This review is from: Tomb of the God King (Paperback)
This was a good story. I liked the heros (Christian and Eric) and even the bad guys. The chemistry between Eric and Chris was believable. But this book contained some "slow parts". I found myself fast-forwarding in some sections, maybe it was too predictable. It is a "Mummy Story", which has been told and re-told "ad nauseam". I guess I was looking for something along the lines of Julia's "Jumping Into Things". Now, that is a great book, showcasing Julia's talent.

4.0 out of 5 stars Shades of Amelia Peabody..., February 9, 2007
This review is from: Tomb of the God King (Paperback)
"Tomb" is a light but very enjoyable read which, while it doesn't rise to the level of one of Elizabeth Peters' "Amelia Peabody" mysteries, did give me a taste of what a Gay romance/mystery set in early 20th century Egypt could present to readers. The author has woven a thoroughly enjoyable tale, with very satisfying characters and a storyline that kept my attention and interest throughout. I also found the element of supernatural horror that the author introduced to be inventive and definitely out-of-the-ordinary from predictable "mummy" or "curse of the pharaoh" fare.

My only complaints about this book relate to issues that have nothing to do with the quality of the writing or the story itself. First, I found the lack of right justification to be distracting (and the ragged margin gave the book an appearance of being less professional than it actually is). Secondly, there are a handful of chapters in which the proofreading was very sloppy. Missing words and letters, word substitutions (e.g., "to" instead of "do") and similar errors sometimes necessitated breaks in reading flow that should not have been necessary. In my opinion, both of these flaws, though relatively minor, are "publishing disservices" to what is an exciting and entertaining story, told by the author with energy, humour, and a fine appreciation of romance between two Gay men.

I would certainly enjoy reading any future adventures of Eric and Christian. In my opinion, as is the case with the first of the "Amelia Peabody Mysteries," "Tomb of the God King" and its lovable protaganists beg for a sequel.
