Dual Brush Pens are Two Pens in One

Dual Brush Pens feature a marker with a flexible, nylon brush tip and a fine tip all in one. The brush tip works like a paint brush to create fine, medium or broad strokes by a change in brush pressure. The fine tip draws consistent, smooth lines for borders, graphics and tight drawings. Use the fine tip to add sharp details with no fraying at the tip.

Both the brush and fine tips can be used to palette blend the colors. Simply apply a darker color using the brush tip to a plastic sheet. Take a lighter color pen and dip the brush tip into the darker color. With each stroke, the pen creates a two color effect with dark to light hues.

Create special effects with the Colorless Blender Pen

Each set offers a colorless blender pen to add beautiful effects to any art project. The blender pen can be used to soften and blend the colors creating a watercolor effect. When shading with the colorless blender, Dual Brush Pens can create an endless number of color combinations. These markers are ideal for both artists and crafters.

The quality pen design ensures long lasting ink

Dual brush pens can be stored both horizontally and vertically. The ink is pressurized within the pen body making it flow smoothly from either tip no matter which position the pens are stored. Both tips are fed from the same ink reservoir ensuring an exact color match. The high quality ink is long lasting and can be stored at temperatures as low as -40° F or as high as 140° F and produce the same results.

I've used brush tip markers before. The frustrations of tips squishing, splitting & getting 'fat' were enough to turn me off brush markers for years. So, when I read reviews of various high-end brush markers & dual tip brush pens, I was a little skeptical. I didn't want to pay over $3 or $4 a pen when I didn't know what I was getting. Then I came across one review from someone who usually bought extreme high-end brush pens, but decided to try Tombow's Dual Brush Pen Sets. WOW!

That reviewer was impressed with the quality/price ratio, the construction, flexibility & durability of the brush tip, and liked the fine tip end as well. So I decided to order a set which was on sale. Not only do I LOVE the 'Jewel' colors (each pen is marked with an identifying number!)-they seem to let light shine from underneath them, while still being only partly translucent, I also love the EASE of use-it really does work like a brush in your hand.

If you have any experience with watercolor painting you'll discover these brush pens act like an actual brush. They can also be used with water, in addition to the blender which comes with the set. The fine tip opposite the brush tip uses the same ink "well" so the color is consistent. This also means these brush pens are best stored flat, rather than upright. I know there's a stand that holds the entire line of colors, but unless you set it on its side, don't waste the money.

The fine tip did seem thick and 'rough' at first, tearing paper and soaking through. Turns out I wasn't holding it at the right angle for best use. I discovered (there aren't any directions for this) that a fine line is achieved when holding the tip exactly vertical. Slanting achieves a slightly thicker line.

I do black and white pen and ink illustrations, this product is great for shading and the points stay sharp and my lines stay clean and well defined. They last a long time and the price is right!

Tombow markers are awesome and I highly recommend them. I am taking online art classes and the teacher recommended these markers along with other supplies. I already own lots of Copic markers and refuse to use substandard quality markers. I bought this set of Tombows to try them out and totally fell in love with them. They are water soluble and the colors are gorgeous. The also blen perfectly well. They are so well worth it! I am buying all the sets a little at a time. As soon as I tried them out I became a fan. They have a brush tip and a bullet tip. They only issue that I have is that they are not refillable.

I have had these brush pens for about a week now [not through vine program]. First of all, notice the actual colors included. They are only flesh tones, not shadow colors. In other words if you use blues for shadows, no blue. No colors for eyes nor hair, other than one brown brush. So do not expect to do complete portraits using only these colors.
That said, if your current selection of brush/pens has more of a rainbow cast to it, then these subtle shades will be a welcome addition.
I have used them in combination with other brands of brush/pens with pleasing results.
Next issue is paper selection:
The first two papers I used were not up to the task. First I used sheet paper, not much heavier than copy paper, if that. When I tried to build up tones, the paper pilled. I tried another sketch pad with regular tooth and again the paper could not hold the ink. Finally I broke down and used Bristol, a hard smooth paper. That was great. You need a slick paper if you like to layer the color.
What I noticed was that over time, over night for example, the ink colors blended a bit so that some of the hard edges softened. That is good in a portrait.
Also if you swipe the lighter colors across a swath of a darker color, the darker color bleeds into the lighter one. You can use that to your advantage when you know that it is going to happen.
The pen end of the brush/pen is a medium width, not as fine a point as I would prefer, but okay for putting in those hard edges as needed. Remember that the next color to go over the line will make it bleed.
I am enjoying experimenting with these brush/pens. So far no fine art, but certainly fun to use while watching TV.

I use these brush pens for quick sketches and tone studies. The have a nice variable line quality to them that allows a broad range of line width. For the price I don't think there is any better product out there.

I use brush markers for my own use and also with patients in
my social work practice. They are a great way to help people relax. particularly since there is no pressure needed
when drawing, therefore, eliminating any tension. These, by far, are the best brush markers I have purchased. They are
smooth and full of color. i won't buy any others from now on.
