Shipping was prompt and it arrived without a hitch. The look was great and it felt good. The cord was nice and long and it was recognized right out of the box the way a good, simple, USB controller should be. I would have enjoyed a bit more of a satisfactory clunk when pressing the shoulder buttons and a lower profile on the action buttons would have made moving between multiple buttons a lot easier (read "not blister-forming"). Design-wise, however, it was a decent clone of the original controller.

The problems started for me when I opened the Amazon box to find it wasn't the brand of controller I ordered. A little off putting for a company to not sell you the product that you agreed to pay for but I decided to run it through it's paces to see if it was comparable. I quickly found the left shoulder button rarely works and the directional pad is not even close to being on par with the original SNES controller. Often, it would go diagonal when I was pressing one of the four main directions which is tolerable in some games like Legend of Zelda but games like Contra III: Alien Wars is all but unplayable when you can't duck.

The look was dead on but the function of this controller was shoddy and could use retooling. I would have gladly paid a few more dollars for a more true imitation in function and design to the original SNES gamepad. I will be returning this product.

Just as an afterthought - I can still pick up and play my old SNES with original controller and it feels as good as when my parents first brought it home for the family almost two decades after it was made. Am I expecting too much for a clone made with modern materials in a modern facility to perform at least to that standard out of the box?

While this is no original Nintendo quality controller, it's a pretty damn good replica. A bit lighter feeling, but feels sturdy enough. The buttons work great, no issue with them.

Now the main issue people complain about here is the D-Pad. The D-Pad is just 1 piece of plastic with little plastic tubes that push down onto little rubberized sensors on the circuit board. Most of the time if you press on the bottom it'll register as bottom-right or bottom-left, making games like Contra and 8-directional games very annoying to play. But I fixed it, here's how:

What you need: Screwdriver, nail filer (or sandpaper or anything rough enough to shave away at plastic)

Take a small screwdriver and remove the screws on the back (peel off the sticker to reveal the last screw, took me a good 5 minutes of trying to yank at it to figure that out). The d-pad and buttons should come out easy enough. Take the d-pad and shave away at the 4 tubes under each direction (do NOT touch the middle plastic tube). Shave them down to about 3/4 of their original size, maybe less. Make sure they're all about the same height and flat. Now my controllers work perfectly, no problems at all!

I found this fixes the issue of a multi-response when you press a direction on the d-pad because when the tubes were longer (considering they're all on 1 piece of plastic), they were more prone to slight movement and activation of another direction by accident. Shortening them simply eliminates the risk of them accidentally hitting the right or left sensor when you just want to hit down.

Hope this helps, enjoy your controller!

I was really hoping that the Tomee brand SNES USB controller would be an awesome retro gaming device, but the D-pads were so terrible that I have no interest in using this controller.

I have made a video which demonstrates the problem with this product.

The seller stated that the controllers were Tomee brand, but were not. They were actually the CYG brand which, in my opinion, is much lower quality. The controllers work fine, but the Tomee brand controllers are far superior to the CYG brand. The Tomee brand controllers get five stars. The CYG brand controllers get three stars. Unfortunately, I am unable to send the controllers back as they were a holiday gift. It is obvious that more care is needed by this seller when they are fulfilling future customer orders.

I purchased two Tomee SNES USB Controllers - New SNES Tomee USB Controller Eight-Way Directional Pad & Six Digital Buttons Works For PC & Mac. The product was "Sold by Hitgaming Video Games and Fulfilled by Amazon". Both SNES USB controllers were brand new and shipped in authentic Tomee packaging. There wasn't a driver CD included with the packaging, however, both Tomee SNES USB Controllers are Plug and Play compatible in Windows 7. I'm currently using the Snes9x emulator and both USB controllers are working flawlessly.

Kinda works, but the d-pad is too sensitive. Unless you press spot on in the direction you want, it's very easy for the control to pick up another direction as well. So pressing right, you'll suddenly fly diagonally down/up and right. Some games are downright unplayable because of this.

So i bought mine from world wide distributors and they charged no shipping (they are in CA i live in CA) it was $10 and worth it i would say. it is obviously a knock off and lighter than the original but still all buttons worked great. i didn't have mario running all over on my emulator he was responsive to specific buttons i pressed. i plugged right into my macbook pro 2009 and it worked with my emulator but it did not work to move around my desktop freely so it probably needs some kind on configuration on your end if you want to use it for that. if you plan on taking it apart go right ahead but DONT overlook the hidden screw under the sticker as noted in my added images that re viewable with notes in the images section for this product. like i said in my title i used World Wide Distributors and the shipping was great i ordered on a thursday and it got to me by monday. i also contacted the seller and got and immediate response. i have been playing it all day with no hic ups (malfunctions) if i do run into any i will note that in images and in this review so you know where to watch out for. i with there was somehow more support on the L & R but if you read my notes on it in my images as well you should be fine. select and start are plastic not rubber. inside all buttons backs are rubber and make a firm connection. overall the Tomee SNES is a great controller! go ahead and buy.
