Product Description

Since 1985 Tommaso has been building great Italian inspired road bikes that not only perform, but more importantly, are designed and built with old world craftsmanship. Every Tommaso is hand built in our factory with quality checks at every step of the process ensuring that each Tommaso is built to be both a one-of-a kind and of the highest quality possible. Now here's the best part, this ultimate riding machine is priced well below the competition. Why? Because at Tommaso we believe that the best way to keep the price of a bike as low as possible is to sell direct to our customers eliminating all distribution costs and pass the savings on to you. Weighing in at a mere 17.6 lbs the Superleggera is the complete package utilizing a Tommaso HCT 12K Monocoque carbon frame, a full carbon fork, Shimano Dura-Ace 7900 components, a Gossamer Pro 53/39 alloy crank, Mavic Aksium Race wheels and a comfortable but race ready Tommaso saddle. We also utilized a superlight aluminum handlebar, stem and seatpost to finish off the Superleggera's great spec. The Italian inspired Tommaso Carbon Monocoque frame and 100% carbon fork have been engineered to provide you with maximum stiffness and forgivingly smooth ride qualities. This combination allows the Superleggera to handle sharply, float up mountains and carve down the descents. In addition, this frame provides you with increased stability and power because it is built with a 1-1/8" to 1 1/2" tapered headtube. This feature gives you the rider a more stable platform for sprinting and hard riding. Finally, we at Tommaso stand behind our bikes like no other brand with a lifetime warranty on the frame and fork. We do not believe 2 years is enough. When you spend your hard earned dollars on a great bike like the Superleggera you deserve better than 2 years and Tommaso delivers. Please note this bike is 85% built and it is suggested that the build be finished by a professional bicycle mechanic.

Arrived on time, was professionally packed. Definitely not "ready to ride" as they claimed. The brakes were loose, maladjusted, every bolt had only as much grease/threadlock on it as that individual part came from the factory with. Altogether it took 2 hrs. of greasing, tightening, tuning to get it ready. Wheels were true though. Cables and housing were done properly, except cut too long, but that beats the alternative. Came with cheap 'take-off' pedals, conveniently.

Since I've worked in bike shops I can say it came in about the same state as any new Specialized, Giant, Fuji, etc. - they always need some work. I've never seen a new bike come out of a box ready to simply assemble & ride in minutes.

If you're not able to do your own tune-ups I would highly recommend taking it to a bike shop to have them professionally assemble it. Weighed in at 18 lbs. exactly (with tires and saddle, no pedals). They claim 17.2 which is probably accurate since they likely don't include tires & saddle. Haven't really ridden it yet but it seems like the top tube feels shorter than it actually is, which is good for me since I have unusually short reach for my height (5'11"). The wheels are an easy upgrade and good to keep as tough (& fairly aero) albeit heavy training wheels. Tires are good quality.

Beautiful bike and a pleasure to ride. The carbon frame is very light and looks great; well finished and I love the visible carbon fiber weave. The components are excellent and overall this bike is a great deal. Three things worth noting. The first is that this is not a bike for a newb. While one wouldn't expect a complete novice to spend 1.9k on a bike, I cycled recreationally in college and wanted to get back into it. After visiting local bike stores and seeing that I could spend 700-1500 on a so so aluminum bike with middle to low tier components, I realized I could pony the extra dough for a light carbon fiber frame with dura-ace components. After getting the bike and making adjustments for an adequate fit, I clipped in and took it out for a spin. I live in a very hilly area and first ride out suffered chain suck (chain wedged between the frame and front inner ring) on three separate occasions before realizing shifting under load was a newbie mistake. But I will also pass a little of the blame to setup of the bike. It wasn't setup out of the box as well as it could be. I had 2 separate mechanics work it over and the last has it shifting much much better than out of the box. It's impressive how precise the shifting is now. So as pointed in another review, spend the extra money to have a good mechanic tune it up. If you have any worries about the possibility of chain suck, consider a chain guard (I went with the K-edge chain catcher clamp) and had a small aluminum guard placed on the frame where the paint was taken off by the chain. The other point is the fit. I'm 6'0", 185lb, 34-35 sleeve length, and after trying several bikes at local stores decided on a 58cm frame. It turns out this frame has a long reach.Read more ›

Terrible Customer Service, in their website they said bike is ready to ride that they spent so many hour tuning up; after tw rides by chain broke and they want to blame my LBS, I wrote twice and they answered (case closed we are not responsible) twice.
Don't believe the what they say.
I did not listen to my friends and I tried to pay less for what i though was a good bike wit good components; I did a 60 miles race and it work fine until when i tried sprinting at the end it was doing good until shifted down by it self, not a good feeling

This rides as well as my Trek. All component we tuned in correctly, very minor adjustments right out of the box.
