4.0 out of 5 stars Havin Fun
This man can play! But the sound and production is not too hot on this one. Also his choice of songs did not grip me. Think Eric Clapton Live on Tour 2001. That is how to do it.

But I'll rent his other ones - he is a master on the guitar. No doubt.

2.0 out of 5 stars too much singing!! the Mel Bay DVD is far superior...IMHO
I love Tommy Emmanuel..but the previously released DVD in concert is much more to my liking...Tommy playing his great repetoire of standards and originals like nobody else in the world! This DVD has him singing too many songs and a guest female vocalist on at least 4 numbers....I allmost feel its misleading to not have her name on the front of the DVD...

There are many better singers in the world...few better guitarists...stop singing and play!

He is without a doubt, the best guitarist many of you have never heard of. If you were to take Chet,Merle,Doc,Django,& maybe a Tony Rice, and morph them all into one...... It's Tommy. Just get the DVD, & your favorite beverage, surround sound of course & take in this performance. His haunting "Lewis & Clark" is worth the price alone. Above all,you can tell he enjoys what he is doing, and is a perfectionist.

I have seen Tommy Emmanuel perform live twice, both times at the Little Fox Theater in Redwood City California. The venue is small, tiny really, and accoustically near-perfect. If you get there early you can sit with your feet on the stage and watch him work from five feet away. Tommy's skills on the guitar surpass all others I have seen. I am officially a "senior" and have marveled at the skills of many.

This DVD, "Tommy Emmanuel - Live at Her Majesty's Theatre," captures the Tommy you see in person. Each song is prefaced by Tommy telling you about it, and what it means to him. The production is wonderful. There are shots of all of him and shots of just his guitar and his fingers flying in a way that looks impossible, but there it is. Listen for the influences of some of his heroes. There is Chet Atkins "The Chief" who inspired, mentored, and recorded with Tommy. There is Les Paul and Doc Watson. You will likely pick out more.

Whether you are a long time fan or are just learning about Tommy Emmanuel the guitar player, singer, song-writer, humanitarian, Son, Dad, and most delightfully captivating entertainer, do youself a great big favor. Buy this DVD, put it on your player, and settle in for a wonderful, magical, experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reliving a magical performance, January 9, 2007

Until you experience a live performance by Tommy Emmanuel, nothing anyone says can possibly convey how amazing a performer he is. A devoted follower of the Chet Atkins' mastery of finger picking style, Tommy E incorporates so many other guitar masters' styles in his own highly evolved style that he is righly acknowledged as the best guitarist in the world today [ask Steve Vai and many others, including the Chet Atkins Appreciation Society who gave him the only standing ovation out of so many other greats who performed]. This is as close as you can get to the real thing: a live performance. It is reliving some glorious moments and stunning guitar work ... guitar saturation!

If I owned a music store, I would be proud to display this prominently. I have had the good fortune to see some of the greats up close. This should be in Every guitar lover's library.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great with some flaws, November 4, 2006
This review is from: Tommy Emmanuel - Live at Her Majesty's Theatre (DVD)
I liked this video very much. The only thing i found out of place with a super guitarist like Tommy Emmanuel is that he brought his girlfriend to sing with him. She sings like five songs here. But the pieces Tommy plays instrumentally are superb: especially "Somewhere over the Rainbow" and "Antonia's BIrthday." I really liked "Lewis and Clarke" too. In general is a great DVD.
