The fun in learning is to have fun with it and Author Larry Dean Jackson has done just that with his Tommy Tussle Adventure series. For me reading this book has been a refresher course in Greek mythology and for my kids it’s been an OH WOW story. Tommy is a typical kid bored and distracted in class until he starts to draw Medusa, and he’s good at it. Here where things start to get interesting. His drawings come to life. With that the story takes off running full speed into the page of Mythology This has been an excellent fun way for me to teach my kids Greek Mythology. We had a lot fun reading this story and I know you will too.

One of the things I like most about Author Larry Dean Jackson’s chapter books is that he creates characters whose behavior are real, living unreal situations if that makes sense. This is as close to a beginning chapter reader fantasy combining Greek Mythology with real day dilemmas of modern day kids.

The topic of this great must read chapter book is all about a subject Tommy and his three cohorts want nothing to do with but . . . perhaps they just needed to see it from another perspective. Characters and objects come to life and fill the boys with wonderment and interest.

This is a world where kids live anyway in their imaginations and a teacher who can reach out to them and stir those mental pictures is the teacher who will be remembered. Each of the books so far in this series have been great chapter books for all levels of reading.

The story can hold the interest of the more advanced readers. Intermediate and beginning chapter book readers, will be able to improve their ability while not losing comprehension of the storyline. Which as we all know is what makes a reader for life. Kids and adults will enjoy the story and the ability to immerse in the story, to take a break from reality.

Of course, when a book does what it is supposed to be because it is driven by a writer who understands the concept and execution of their job. You get the stuff that Greek Legends are made from. Excellent job Mr. Jackson I’m on board for more of this character.

"The stick person began to move. Suddenly, with one look at Tommy, it jumped off the page along with the simple car."

This brought me back to my own childhood, where I was captivated by the book "The Indian in the Cupboard". I love the idea of objects coming to life and I think the writer does a wonderful job of filling the book full of imaginative scenes that all children create in their heads at one time or another. I always read books along with my children, and this time I read this before my kids, and will gladly let them read it now.

The characters are likable and entertaining and it was an easy quick read.

A fun adventure story for children. I enjoyed reading this to my nephew almost as much as he enjoyed hearing it.

As an added bonus he learned a little bit about Greek Mythology and was fascinated with the idea of the magical creatures in the myths.

Great fun for both adults and children.

I recently read this book to my daughter, planning to read every night before bed. However, she loved this book so much that we read it all in one sitting. I recommend this book to any mom, dad, or kid wanting to read a great book!

Tommy Meets Dr. Zeus is a funny and lighthearted adventure that any kid would love to experience. We begin our story in Miss Tomlinson's fifth-grade class, where we meet Tommy Tussle, a gifted young artist, and some of his classmate friends Hector, Bill, and Joseph. Now the boys would rather be doing anything else other than studying ancient, "like the 1960's", Greek Mythology but that's exactly what is in store for the class now that their winter break as ended. That is until Tommy gets a special set of pencils, and the true adventure comes to life with all kinds of heroes and villains from Medusa to Zeus. The author is wonderful at bringing a completely realized and magnificent world to life that kids and adults alike can relate to and really enjoy. One of our favorite bedtime series in our roster of books.

Tommy Meets Dr. Zeus: A Tommy Tussle Adventure #2 by Larry Dean Jackson is an easy to read book that is very appropriate for young readers. While visiting our family, our 6 year old nephew was interested in using my Kindle. I was looking for something we could do together that would be fun and interesting. I found the Tommy Meets Dr. Zeus adventure book to be just what we needed! Reasonably priced, I downloaded it and we had so much fun following Tommy Tussle through his adventures. The characters are relate-able and there are humorous situations that will satisfy a younger child's desire that their books have a fun-factor. The vocabulary and sentence structure are not complex and we learned a little bit about Greek Mythology. I would recommend this book to any mom or dad out there.
