My third grade students were entranced with Tommy's adventure. Tommy's quest to find the truth leads him to discover that goodness and caring resides in non-green dinosaurs. This story is the springboard for my students' exploration of prejudice and understanding of tolerance. My students' conversations around the story were lengthy and intense, so much so, that we needed two sessions at the rug to finish reading Tommy and the T-Tops. Tommy is definitely a hero that third graders understand and love.

Not only is the book powerful and interesting (for kids and adults), the author is equally as interesting! I met him at Coffee Labs in Tarrytown this weekend and he is seriously vested in peace in the world. Very inspiring. P.S. the tips at the end for parents to discuss concepts is amazing!!!

This is a wonderful book! Rick Alimonti has taken a difficult yet familiar problem, and made it understandable and accessible for his young readers. (Not to mention enjoyable!) I highly recommend it!

I highly recommendTommy and the T-Tops! This book makes understanding tolerance an easy concept for children. Using dinosaurs to teach children that you can't judge a person by their appearance helps simplify the concept. The dinosaurs serve as models of typical behavior of people who assume that others who "look" different are bad or are people who should be shunned, then, who learn the important lesson that there is much more to a person (or dinosaur) than meets the eye. Tommy and the T-Tops serves as a helpful learning tool to help children with developing their executive function (exercising judgment). This book is great for bedtime reading and in the classroom to help teachers help the children develop understanding, empathy, and judgment.

This is an excellent book to teach as well as explaining differences to children.A great learning tool to relate in a child's view about prejudice. Easy and enjoyable to read over and over again. A must buy!
