Book Description

January 1989
Tommy, the Gaiety Theatre cat, loves to sit in the President's chair and falls foul of the cleaning lady; to his horror, he encounters a man-sized cat, but ends up making a friend of the actor, Terry, who is playing Dick Whittington's cat. Maureen Potter appears through the book, as the 'small lady with glasses' who sometimes gets annoyed with people, but is mostly smiley and friendly. Tommy also rushes to the rescue at the cry of 'rats, rats' in another production, the Pied Piper.

Editorial Reviews

Review

'Full of warmth and oozing with character, Maureen Potter has followed advice given to so many aspiring writers 'write about something you know'. Through the eyes of Tommy she has written about the magical backstage life of the theatre that readers young and old will find fascinating. David Rooney's black-and-white scraperboard-style illustrations are as atmospheric as the text.' -- Books Ireland Books Ireland --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.
