1 Star?! That's all that other guy gave this album in his review. Seeing that made me have to review this album, even though I don't have an account set up and as such am forced to do a "kid's review." 2.0 out of 5 stars One of the worst follow-up CDs ever
I don't know what happened to SR-71. Their first album was surprisingly good, with fun, catchy, and often intelligent lyrics. I guess SR-71 thought they weren't "hard" enough, or "bad" enough. Their new songs are boring; music and lyrics. Nothing what made the first album great exists here. The only decent and funny song is "She was Dead",...

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Tomorrow (Audio CD)
1 Star?! That's all that other guy gave this album in his review. Seeing that made me have to review this album, even though I don't have an account set up and as such am forced to do a "kid's review." That and the statement that he prefers more older oriented artists like Good Charlotte...lol. Anyway, this album is a solid sophimore release from SR-71. Their first album was largely overlooked other than the radio hit "Right Now," so managing a second release is somewhat of a feat in itself. Lacing it with several great tracks is just that much more impressive. Unfortunately, this album came out around the time that pop-punk was taking off and so was overlooked as being yet another album riding that wave. That's a real shame as this album really does offer something extra from that whole genre. What makes this album so good is that the band members are rockers at heart. That might sound strange or maybe even that the album will be off because of it, but that couldn't be further from the truth. What you get is instead of the simple/repetitive/throw away melodies of your typical carbon copy pop punk band, you get driving, harder edged, catchy guitar work instead. And for the most part that really succeeds. What you get is a solid album with several spectacular tracks (Goodbye, My World, They All Fall Down among others), and many more good ones. I'll be the first to say that this album is not perfect, as there are a few throw away songs (hence the 4 star rating). But to find a cd with 5 or 6 great tracks that stay in your head, many other tracks that are good enough in their own right, and only a few (we're talking maybe 2) throw away ones easily warrants a purchase in my opinion. While this is the import of the Japanese release and as such is more expensive, it does include a previously unreleased song in the form of "My World" done acoustically. The original of this track is one of my favourites on the album to begin with as it shows off the writing and melodic potential of the band, but the acoustic version is that much better. It allows the band to more completely explore the creativity that they first showed in the original version and easily steals the show as the premier track on this release. Give this album a try and you won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE IT!, November 4, 2004

Absolutely gorgeous singing, acoustics, and lyrics. "My World", when I first heard it, actually made me cry. The lyrics are not just sloppy rhymes but carefully thought out and crafted songs.

Also: RIP Jeff.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Tomorrow"...great follow up!, March 21, 2003

I thought that this sophomore CD from SR-71 was awesome. SR-71 proves that to make a great 2nd CD you don't have to make a carbon copy of the first nor do you have to completely re-invent yourself as many bands unfortunately do. This album pretty much has all the elements of a CD that is radio-friendly yet still maintains a punk/metal credibility. There is everything from the standard songs about love lost ("My World" and "Hello Hello") to songs that carry social weight ("Truth", which is about Sept. 11).

What I love most about this album is that all 11 of the songs could easily be singles. When you listen to the average CD, you can very easily pick out the 4 or 5 songs you will hear played ad nauseam on the radio. Not the case with this one.

I give "Tomorrow" two thumbs up and five stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good CD..... BUT better is out there!, January 21, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Tomorrow (Audio CD)
Actually this CD deserves only 3.5 stars, but since you can only use whole numbers I gave it a 4. On this album SR-71 sounds like a blend of Finch and Something Corporate minus the screaming of Finch and piano of something Corporate with a little punk thrown in on the songs "She was Dead" and "Lucky". This CD has its ups and downs and essentially it is built on a good framework with songs such as "Lucky" and "Tomorrow", but has only a mediocre filling such as songs "In My Mind" and "The Best Is Yet To Come". This band sounds much better on the uptempo songs whose lyrics don't drag on. They should stick to this upbeat style and pull away from the often boring sounds of some of the slower songs on this album. Lead singer Mitch Allan also needs to dust up on his vocals in the song "The Best is Yet To Come". Other than this song his voice fits in well with the song styles on the album.

Top 5 Songs For SR-71 "Tomorrow"

5. Goodbye- The best slower song on this CD but the chorus's tempo pick-up makes the song great. 8/10

4. Lucky- A nice pop/punk song with more meaningful noise then your average Blink 182 or NFG song. 8/10

3. She Was Dead- Another cool pop/punk song with a unique intro and interlude plus an awesome chorus. 9/10

2. They All Fall Down- Another unique song because of its style changes and great chorus. 9/10

1. TOMORROW- An all around great song with an eerie effect that makes this song a perfect 10/10.

Because of the variety of styles on this album any rock fan should atleast 2 or 3 songs that they will enjoy

5.0 out of 5 stars Got It Right The Second Time., January 14, 2003

Well, I normally don't do these. But when I happened to skim by and see a rather rude review posted, I figured it was time to give some opinionated input of my own. I liked the first CD very much. However, it was a little too annoyingly upbeat for my taste. Too, 'bouncy', I guess if you want to put it that way. Their songs sounded much too similiar to one another as well. That's where I find the second album better. Different tempos, different variations. A CD with songs that all sound the same eventually wears on your nerves and makes you want to turn it off. Whining lyrics? Hardly. You want whining, go listen to Staind. That's some true whining. You know a good band when you can relate to many of their songs, and feel the message they deliver, or just enjoy some of the random humor they put in. 'Lucky' and, 'She Was Dead', two examples. I like the slightly harder edge they display in this album. A band should never be too afraid to experiment with their sound and style. It's always a risk, but a worthwhile one to see how good you are at expanding your horizons. No, they're not the greatest band out there. But, they do have a great sound. I'm going to see them live this coming Friday. Looking forward to it!

4.0 out of 5 stars It was definitly worth waiting for "Tommorrow", October 22, 2002

I was a little skeptical of Sr-71's new album at first cause i had heard how they changed their sound from a more pop rock to a harder almost angry rock, but after buying the new cd the day it came out all my skepticism went out the window. "Tommorrow" is a great second effort from this great Baltimore are band and they prove that everyone does not have the "sophomore album blues". Many of the songs express a more realism to them such as "truth", which talks about the aftermath of 9/11. Mitch Allen and the boys have definitly matured as artists and hold a very real but yet still fun approach to rock music thats helps shed some light into this angst-rock driven society. I would definitly recommend this cd to anyone who wants a break from the Korn's, Limp Bizkit's and Linkin Park's of the world. All the tracks are good on this album but the ones that really stood out to me are #1: They all fall down, #4: Hello Hello and of course the radio hit "tommorrow". The album was co-produced by the man Butch Walker and on many of the tracks you can hear his style coming through. Buy this cd today, you want be dissapointed.

4.0 out of 5 stars SR71 Talented young musicians, June 25, 2005
By
This review is from: Tomorrow (Audio CD)
This is yet another album I purchased just for one song 'Tomorrow', in which I watched the video clip on a music TV station. The song was a beautiful example of talent meeting great music. SR71 is a bunch of 4 men with alot of musical skill. Whilst I wasn't all that impressed with the lyrics that I thought were reprised from other bands out there at the moment. But the music was great, alt rock with a dash of punk.
My favourite three songs on this album were 'Tomorrow', 'My World' and 'Broken Handed'. If you can get the video clip of 'Tomorrow', you won't be disappointed. It is a enjoyable CD and I have become a fan of this young rock band.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow.., October 29, 2002

Want a CD that you can move to? Want a CD you can make-out with your boyfriend/girlfrend to? Want a CD that's great from beginning to end? Then you need to get SR-71's "Tomorrow". From the heavy guitars in "Goodbye" to the beautiful melodies in "My World" to remembering New York in "Truth", this is one of the best CDs I've heard in a while.

If you're hoping for a CD similaur to "Now You See Inside", their debut album, think again. SR-71 has matured from a band fawned over by 15 year old girls into a 'man's band' that's going to have more than one hit on the radio. For those of you that want Korn and Slipknot, keep moving. But, if you're looking for kick [butt] rock-n-roll music and wonderful lyrics, then you've found your band. Frontman Mitch Allan's vocal range is amazing on this CD, as well as lead guitarist Mark Beauchemin's awesome riffs. And we can't forget the incredible John Allen on drums and Jeff tearin' up the bass.

SR-71 is going to be around for a while and "Tomorrow" proves it. I highly recomend "They All Fall Down", "My World", Hello Hello" and "Goodbye". Actually, I highly recomend the entire CD because it's definitely worth it and then some! Trust me, you won't be dissapointed!

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME MUST-BUY CD!, December 23, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Tomorrow (Audio CD)
I bought this album because I liked the hit song "Right Now" off "Now You See Inside." I heard SR-71 had a new album and I decided I'd give it a try...
01. They All Fall Down-9/10... One of the best songs on the album... Varying styles in this song makes it unique... When the second part of the chorus is added this song is awesome!

02. Tomorrow-10/10... Great song with very good lyrics... SR-71's 1st single off this album. One of my favorites.

03. My World-8/10... Good song with pretty good lyrics... Nice chorus... It lost 2 points because the lyrics flow very slowly...

04. Hello Hello-9/10... I like this song a lot, not the best, but very far from the worst... Good chorus...

05. Truth-10/10... The music is good in the song, but it's the lyrics that gave this a 10. Great 9/11 song. God bless America.

06. Goodbye-10/10... My favorite song on this CD. Great guitar... If you're going to download a song to check out this band, this is it.

07. She Was Dead-10/10... One of the best songs on the CD because of the chorus. Very energetic.

08. The Best is Yet to Come-9/10... Good slow song. Fast enough to keep me into it but not slow enough to get me out.

09. Broken Handed-6/10... One of my least favorites, strange lyrics, but and OK song, only OK

10. Lucky-9/10... I love this song, but the lyrics are wierd and thats why it lost points... Another energetic song.

11. In My Mind-0/10... WAY too long... over 5 minutes, I've probably never listened past 2 minutes of this song... Easily the worst song on the CD.

12. Non-Toxic-8/10... I've never heard the original of this song, but this version is pretty good... One of the worse songs on this CD, but it's still very good
