5.0 out of 5 stars damn, May 12, 1999

This review is from: Tomorrow We Will Run Faster (Audio CD)
i saw sweep the leg johnny in jacksonville, fl along with chisel.drill.hamer and ghosts and vodka. i had only heard one song of theirs before then, and i really really liked that song. but man, seeing them live was just amazing. it was one of the best performances i've seen. so naturally i bought their first album at the show, and my friend bought the new one that was to be released the day after the show. i have no way of describing them because they don't sound like any band i've heard before. all i can tell you is that they rock out with a saxophone. the bass player plays a fretless bass. the guitarist is just plain badass. the drummer, well, somehow he is able to keep up with the guitarist and bassist, and then some. if you're a fan of morphine you might like sweep the leg johnny simply because you realize how cool a saxophone is. anyway, they are a great band no matter how you get to hear them. be sure to get their first album as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, October 15, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Tomorrow We Will Run Faster (Audio CD)
This CD is beautiful and amazing. I saw Sweep in Texas in 2001 and they were the best band I've ever seen. Incredible energy, emotion and effort are put into the way they play, write, and record. I would recommend anybody to see them or buy any of their CD's. Steve and the other guys are also really nice.

This CD was made before Sto Cazzo and it's more mellow and "pretty", but it's still amazing. I also love the cover art and wonderful lyrics. It's a shame that they've never become huge.

I don't really know how to classify this music. I like alternative rock, but I've never listened to music with a saxophone before!! But trust me, it still rules. The drums, guitar, sax, vocals, bass, all is amazing (and is just as amazing live). Cheers to Sweep, and please buy their album or go see them, cuz they need the support. Peace.

4.0 out of 5 stars I knew them when...., November 9, 1999

I'm not sure if Steve Sostak will ever read this, but on a whim I decided to type "Sweep the Leg Johnny" into the search of Amazon and the band actually came up. I know Steve is still with the band but who is in the latest incarnation of "Sweep?" I'm a ND grad who saw them play when I was just a sophomore. I even saw Steve in his previous band, "Victoria's Real Secret." I played bass with the RoadApples... It's awesome that bands that came out of ND like Chisel and Sweep are doing alright. E-mail me if you ever read this.
