This classic handbook contains actual examples of classroom dialogue that will enable elementary teachers to teach reading and writing effectively and strategically. Faye Brownlie clearly has a strong research base, but she also has wonderful teacher intuition, and her lessons show artful mediation between students and the material to be learned. This is a wonderful text both for elementary teachers and teacher educators in the field of literacy. Pleasurable and enormously practical reading.
