Editorial Reviews

Review

“Tomorrow’s Treasure invites the reader to look closely at God’s fatherly care for his orphans and widows, particularly those whose families were martyred on the mission field.  An engaging historical novel!”
–C. Hope Flinchbaugh, author of Daughter of China

“Absorbing human drama, intriguing mystery, heart-pounding love interests, a dramatic setting–this novel has it all, including a good message expertly woven into the greater story. I can’t wait for Book Two!”
–Lisa Tawn Bergren, bestselling author of The Captain’s Bride

“Adventure. Intrigue. Romance. Settle back for an enjoyable read. Tomorrow’s Treasure is as old world as the setting, yet as contemporary as the human heart.”
–Kathy Herman, bestselling author of The Baxter Series

“Linda Chaikin has created a wonderful page-turner with this engaging historical novel. Her sense of time and place is exquisite, her characters so real they seem ready to step right off the page. This is a story rich with conflict, triumph over adversity, and wondrous testimony to God’s grace. Your heart will sing as you read.”
–Diane Noble, award-winning author of Heart of Glass

From the Inside Flap

Raised by her aunt and uncle at the rectory in the small English village of Grimston Way, lovely Evy Varley remembers little of her missionary parents and nothing of South Africa, the land where she was orphaned during the Zulu War of 1878. But when Sir Rogan Chantry, the arrogant and handsome son of the local Squire, accuses Evy?s mother of stealing the infamous Kimberly Black Diamond, Evy sets out to prove the rogue wrong and clear her mother?s name.

Secrets abound, however, from the diamond mines of South Africa to the halls of her own beloved rectory. Strangers come to Grimston Way for their own mysterious purposes, a stunned Evy finds that her own aunt and uncle may have concealed disturbing truths about her family, and the dashing Sir Rogan has his own reasons to seek the missing diamond.

Yet despite Rogan?s seemingly rakish ways and the class differences that render a romance between them impossible, Evy finds herself drawn to the man who was once her childhood friend and now holds the keys to her heart. Faced with a dangerous past and an uncertain future, Evy must draw upon her wits and her faith to pursue Tomorrow?s Treasure.

A story of faith, danger and romance, Tomorrow?s Treasure is a masterpiece of historical suspense fiction. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

This book is one of the best I have ever read by Linda Chaikin or should I say the best I have ever read, period! I loved the setting of South Africa, of the anguish of the Zulu war in 1879 and how the missionaries serving the Lord were martyered. A decade goes by and we find Evy Varley in Grimston Way, England the niece of the local vicar and the daughter of the missionaries who were martyered. Rogan Chantry is the handsome future squire who lives in a maginficent mansion just down the road from Evy's uncle's rectory. I loved the romantic dynamics between Evy and Rogan as they grow up pursuing their dreams. Rogan, to South Africa to locate the gold mine that his deceased uncle had claimed to find. Evy, to become a music teacher. She was expected to marry the curate's son Derwent Brown but in spite of her logic she finds herself growing more and more fond of the squire's son. Rogan, in delving into his family's past, discovers a link from the mysterious Black Diamond to Evy's mother and his uncle Henry. Her mother is accused of stealing the missing Black Diamond. Evy knows this cannot be true so she sets out to prove Rogan wrong. But what she finds out is not what she expects or hoped for; her aunt and uncle had concealed the truth about her parents and that Rogan had his own reasons to seek the missing diamond. A well-written story of danger, romance, mystery and suspense. For all you Linda Chaikin fans out there, I've learned that the sequel to "Tomorrow's Treasure" is called "Yesterday's Promise" and is scheduled to be released in February 2004!

Usually I never, ever give five stars but, on this book I feel I must. It's a wonderful book probably one of the best I have ever read (and I have read a few). The characters were outstanding and the plot is just as good. I love this book and as soon as I set it down I went out to grab the next in the series. Just read it, and you too will be amazed.

I have never rated a book online before beacuse no book has ever compelled me to like this one has. This was my first book to read by Linda Chaikin, but it will not be my last. This book gets your attention on the very first page and never lets you go. You will fall in love with the characters, the plot, everything about it. It has everything: adventure, suspense, mystery and most of all love. I did not want it to end. It is perfect.

I Am a true fan of Linda Chaikin and have very high respect for her. She has yet again made a terrific romance bloom in less than 2000 pages. The budding relationship between Evy(a sweet and strong young lady) and Rogan (an intreging and fun loving male) is absolutly awesome! I am just dieing for number two! I read it in less than four days (if that tells you anything)! Linda Has SO Much Talent and so much knowledge it makes my admoration grow higher with every book i read, and find myself enjoying. READ READ READ....or, if you can't stand suspence, read when you have # two right next to you so you can keep going!!!

I let this book sit on my shelf for a year before I picked it up. When I started reading it, I could only wonder why I'd let it sit that long. Tomorrow's Treasure has to be one of the best books I've read. I'd recommend it to anyone.
