Another great masterpiece of live neo-psychedelic drone jams. If you like the Dead, if you like Mogwai, if you like Godspeed, (especially) if you like the Boredoms and Tzadik labelmates Mono, this is something you should get. And with a mix by Bill Laswell, production by John Zorn and 2 hours worth of psych-jazz-jam-drum circle trippiness...Take your inner deadhead out of the closet and let him (or her) hear this.

If you like circa-2000 Boredoms, you will like this album. I didn't find two CDs hard to take in one go. Strongly recommend.

This album is an incredible document of Rovo's extremely powerful live show. They must be seen live to be fully believed. If you like this live release recorded in the U.S. last year, you should definitely also check out their debut feull-length, "Imago", which was released by the smaller Incidental Music label. "Imago" was Rovo's first U.S. release (2001), and although not well-known at the time, it was their first U.S. tour in support of "Imago"'s release that brought them to Tonic in New York City where "Tonic 2001" was recorded for release on Tzadik. All of the fireworks of this live set, and in fact it is a "live" studio recording all performed in real time without overdubs--just not in front of an audience. Hard to believe you're hearing a live band without the applause, but once you know what they're capable of live, and reject the suspicion that this is a "studio record" in the traditional sense, it's an utter knock-out, and includes much of their best material so far. Hooray for Rovo, and thanks to Incidental Music and Tzadik for finally getting them and their music over here! Don't miss them live next time they visit!

Tzadik have confusingly and wrongly called this 'trance-rock' on the cover; dont let that put you off. This is amazing innovative stuff.

Its like Godspeed You Black Emperor only happier and of course containing members of the boredoms theres enough bleeps, burps and fuzz to keep any japcore fan happy.

But this is structured stuff, made all the more exciting by the fact its live; well-worth buying
