If you'd told me I would enjoy reading either a «chick lit» or a zombie book, I would have laughed at you. Reading the book made me laugh, all right, because it is hilarious. The main character is self-involved, but the reader becomes just as involved in her story. I actually want to know what happens after the novella ends. The writing is almost flawless - none of the jarring lapses free books often have. Please ignore the genres and give it a try.

Who knew a zombie apocalypse could be so laugh out loud funny? This well written short story chronicles the adventures of an unlikely survivor whose main goal is to be on time for her date. Full of colorful characters and shuffling undead, it's entertaining and easily read in one sitting.

Rachel is a woman on a mission: to land a man. So it sucks that on the same day she has a date with a handsome doctor, the apocalypse strikes. But Rachel's not giving up so easily. She fully intends to keep her date, and will brave the zombie hordes to make it.

I didn't realize until I started reading ARE WE ON...but I have missed author Evelyn Lafont's special brand of storytelling. I read the first chapter of this on her blog quite a while ago, loved it, and have been waiting since then for the finished product. This novella did not disappoint. And at only approximately eighty pages, it gave me a nice break between books.

ARE WE STILL ON FOR TONIGHT? is a fun addition to LaFont's collection of works. I highly suggest it if you're up for some zombie fun.
