Great singer, great band, great material. If you get a chance to see her live, as I did, catch this emerging young star on the way up.

How refreshing to find a talented jazz singer with the courage and imagination to incorporate new material into the tried and true repertoire of standards that are the mainstay of new releases. Hey, I love the old standards, but after forty or fifty years, isn't it time to hear something new and different? Bryson blends the old and the new without missing a beat.Check her out.

I couldn't believe my good fortune as I was watching the daughter of Dizzy Gillespie and Connie Bryson perform in Taos, New Mexico while on vacation, I was seduced by her superior vocal range and pristine clarity so masterfully woven amongst gifted accompanyment that I was first in line to buy an autographed CD after her encores. My question to her was "When are you booked at Yoshi's of Oakland (California)?" Jeanie's CD is the intimate success story of my collection, akin to winning the lottery. Her sexy, pearl-like voice delivers Nobel-prize style stories in her songs so subtly the pollution and noise of the world is temporarily silenced, the finely-crafted melodies linger within the best of dreams.

For me four stars is really five as I reserve a five star rating for those artists that have made jazz what it is today, the Sarahs, the Ellas, Betty Carter...How we all miss those incredible pioneers. Jeannie's gracefull presence, her smooth delivery and style is a lasting sound. It's voices like Jeannie's that really make up for the loses of the greats passing on. I had the opportunity to get to know her at a small dinner gig she had in Madison New Jersey. Jeannie is as sweet and accessible as her voice sounds. Always surrounded by great musicians. What more could I ask? This disc makes me sing! From Bossas to the Blues it has all the elements of a real jazz lovers favorite. The recording is also excellent. I have used it to demonstrate how good my audiophile system can really sound.

This CD includes the most sensual version of "Honeysuckle Rose" I've ever heard. Fats Waller is grinning broadly somewhere...

I had heard a review of some of her work and was excited to listen to the full CD. She certainly has a lovely voice, but rarely challenges her range and has surrounded herself with an unchallenging light jazz- kenny G'esque ensemble.
