Fourteen years after the "Live At Last" album, Steeleye returned with a great improved concert set that is a must for their fans.

While a live album with 12 songs might see a bit odd for a band that has been around as long as this one has may seem a bit skimpy, this hour long CD makes up for what may seem a lack in quantity for definite quality. The vocals harmonies are sharp and the song selection is first rate. "White Man," for example, becomes much more accessible then in the odd production and arrangement that it had in the studio version.

But the real gem here is the nearly eleven minute epic "Tam Lin." A different version from the one fans may know by Steeleye's cousin band "Fairport Convention," this Scottish ghost story is quiet spooky and should make for mandatory Halloween listening!

If you own other Steeleye Span discs, you've got to get this one. If you own no Steeleye Span discs, this is the one you should get. Everything about this album is the best you will find of Steeleye Span - song selection, performances, and recording quality.

As a performer, I can say that there is a big difference between recording in a studio and recording a live performance... and this CD is proof that live performances have that extra punch that studio releases lack. This is one of the few CD's (including other Steeleye releases) I own which does not have a single bad track. Undoubtedly one of their finest pieces of work.

If you hadn't told me, I would have thought that it was definately a studio recording. Peter Knight shines in this album, as does the rest of the band. Definately a great CD.

Whilst I love the music and this reformated band produce good stuff I chose the album because it was supposed to be live. Aside from a little muted clapping and cheering after some, but not most, tracks and the rare comment to the audience this album sounds like a well-produced studio album. In fact, I suspect foul play.
"Original Masters" (not live) remains the best overall album of this great band.
