More About the Author

I've always had an interest in the paranormal, despite a rather normal childhood in Brooklyn, NY.

I first 'met' Jason Specter a few years ago when I began to read the stories on his website, scarystatesof america.com. I have to admit I was hooked right away.

I challenged Jason to pick his favorites. I told him I'd like him to choose one story from each state. I then used my contacts in the publishing world to help get his stories into print. The result is the book: THE SCARY STATES OF AMERICA.

My 2 year old loves fire trucks, and this book goes in great detail about what a fire fighter and a fire truck do.

I wanted to cheer up my daughter, who has been ill, and was excited to find a fire truck book she didn't already own. I was pleasantly surprised, and even MORE excited, to open the book and discover that it is about a GIRL, Susan, who daydreams about the adventures she would have if she could drive a fire truck. For my firefighter- and paramedic-obsessed daughter (her favorite shirt is a REAL firefighter T-shirt that her firefighter uncle gave her for Christmas, and she has a kit full of REAL paramedic supplies from the same source; her favorite TV show is the 1970's paramedic show "Emergency" -- although she has not missed the fact that none of the firefighters are female), it was the perfect pick-me-up.

Boys should enjoy the book -- only on the first and last page is there any emphasis on the fact that the main character is a girl -- but if you have a little girl with fire truck dreams, well, this is a PERFECT book, and I was so pleased to find it! Kudos to Tonka for not leaving little girls out of their "If I Could Drive..." series.

purchased for grandSONS....turns out the main character is a girl ... not a problem...just a surprise...guess i should have "looked inside" first ... otherwise neat little book and enjoyable... a nice way to show boys that girls are often interested in the same things they are.
