This was my favorite toy when I was a boy, very little has changed since then.

I bought this for my son for his second Christmas. It has remained at the top toy slot ever since. He sits in the back like a chair and watches...

My son received this toy for his first Christmas and we have have been playing with it ever since. -- Two and a half years later, fast forward through his third birthday, and we still play with this even though some of the newer toys and gifts remain untouched and overlooked.

I think the reason why has to do with the freedom my son has to use his imagination and to use this in combination with other toys. Also the size and scale are delightfully easy for small hands, and just small enough to be independently carted out to the back yard to scoop up dirt or snow or whatever the New England seasons dish out. The color and finish looks as bright and shiny as ever and I imagine it will continue look good for years to come. -- And now, Tonka has added cool accessories to boot! Your little Bob the builder fan will be as enchanted as mine, I'm certain. -- The other thing, is that since the toy looks so great, requires no batteries, has really nothing to break, and makes no NOISE -- it is a favorite with the parents in this house as well. Makes a great gift for almost anybody. Grab one.

This is such a great idea and wonderful addition to our Tonka collection. It is so cute and sparks such imagination for our toddler. You really cannot destroy these toys either - we've tried!

This was my favorite toy when I was a boy, very little has changed since then.

I bought this for my son for his second Christmas. It has remained at the top toy slot ever since. He sits in the back like a chair and watches cartoons in the morning. He puts his cup and toys in the back and uses it to ferry them around the house and yard. Most of all he just takes it wherever he goes around the house and puts it to use.

It has been almost two years now, the paint is scratched up some, but it is functionally perfect. All toys should be built this well.

Sure, they are clunky and have some pointy edges. But they are Tonka Trucks, they are supposed to. These toys are what keep the male "Big Truck" fascination going. Yes, he will pinch his finger. Yes, he will stand in the back and fall over. Yes, he will run and push it so fast that he falls and cries. But that is part of being a boy.

I dont know why, but all boys love their Tonka Truck. It is the one toy I look back on my childhood and smile about, after watching my son Im sure he will do the same. As cheap as this is, can you really deny your child such a potentially great toy?

5.0 out of 5 stars Built Strong for Hours of Fun!, November 30, 2004

I remember when I was a child and I received a Tonka dump truck for Christmas. Now that I have my own son, I've carried on the tradition and purchased one for him. Tonka has always been known for their strong and durable toys, and this mighty dump truck keeps up the tradition. Although no longer completely made out of steel, the plastic is still stong and durable and holds up very well. The colors are bright and inviting, and the main parts (i.e. dumper and cab) are still made from steel. I highly recommend this excellent toy. I hope my son gets as much joy and fun from his new mighty dump truck as I did when I had mine.

When my oldest daughter was two, we bought her a Tonka dump truck. She is a junior in high school now, and the truck has endured heavy play from two more of our children, not to mention those of neighbors and visiting relatives. It's moved hundreds if not thousands of loads of sand around the sandbox, not to mention carrying sticks, dolls and even kids up and down the driveway, across the basement and through the kitchen.

I am planning to buy one for my nieces for Christmas.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for the destructive Child, November 19, 2004
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars

My son just turned three years old, and recieved this as a gift from me and his daddy. He was playing with it form the moment it came out of the box. He has always been a pretty destructive child and likes to run things into walls, through them downstairs and so on, with this being made of mostly steel, it is perfect for him. It can take a beating and keep on ticking. ***** 5 Stars *****

4.0 out of 5 stars Great toy - For Girls, too!, March 14, 2006

I bought this truck for my daughter, because she seems to like playing with mini cars/trucks. She really loves this toy. She drives it around the yard & play area - whether it is hauling dirt or her 'My Little Ponies', she is bound to have fun! The rake, shovel & helmet are perfect for her, too. And if you are wondering if it is durable - like the original TONKA trucks... The answer is YES!! My daughter sits in the bed of the truck, and pushes herself around (backwards) in it, and so far, it has held up! I highly recommend this truck for any child 2 1/2 years old (or older)

It is a very durable toy. My boys (ages 3 & 5) have pushed each other around in it for a year or more. It has taken trips through the rock garden and weathered a few rain storms too. With a little care and cleaning it looks a great as the day we got it. Not to mention the hat is really neat! The tools last quite a long time for staying outside all year. Most other sand/dirt toys last a month and then crack and break into a million pieces.

Imagine having to grow up with a mommy that isn't smart enough to know that a toy labeled "for ages 3 and up" isn't appropriate for a one-year old. Maybe when he's old enough (say, 3 and up) he can take some of the rocks out of Mommy's box and haul them around in his wonderful toy - which will still be like brand-new. It's built well, easy to use, and great fun. Every boy should have one - when he is old enough (say, 3 and up).

I have four boys who are not at all "delicate" with their toys. This one has been around for ten years now and it is still going strong!
