4.0 out of 5 stars Well Constructed
The Mighty Tonka 12-Inch Bike is a well made heavy duty bike. Overall the bike is a great first bike for any child, however, the bike is heavy duty and it is heavy. Your little one might have a hard time starting off as pedaling this beast can be quite a challenge for a small child. This is actually a very good bike, but when you are unable to find a replacement tire because they don't make them then the bike is useless. My son is only 4 and does not understand why we cannot fix his tire.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Pleased with this Bike, August 18, 2008
This review is from: Tonka Mighty Kid's Bike (12-Inch Wheels) (Sports)
Based on the reviews we read on Amazon.com, we bought this bike as a birthday present for our son, who was turning 4. He's had it for almost a month. He did not have much trouble learning to use the bike on his own. His previous set of wheels were the radio flyer's tricycle. We are impressed with the quality of the bike. My husband assembled the bike. He didn't have any trouble. We did buy the bike from Walmart, as someone else had suggested. We had one concern with the bike while we were shopping for one. As I said, our son was turning 4. Most of the reviews we read here pertained to 2 1/2 year olds. Based on his height, it had seemed that a larger bike would've been more appropriate. However, we did not come across a larger bike with the kind of good reviews given on the Tonka. We took a chance with it anyways, and we are glad for it. This past weekend, I overhead a mom commenting on the Tonka at the playground. It seemed that her son was having trouble with his bike. Her son had the larger sized bike, and was about the same height as my son. We thank everyone who wrote a review on this bike. It was most helpful.

5.0 out of 5 stars This bike is great!, March 27, 2008
This review is from: Tonka Mighty Kid's Bike (12-Inch Wheels) (Sports)
We did a lot of research to be sure we got just the right first "big boy" bike for our son, and we congratulate ourselves on finding this Tonka bike. This bike stands out far above the rest as the most solid, rugged, and easily handled bike for a child his age (nearly 3 1/2).

He got right on it and loves every second of it. Not too big, not too small. The bike shops told us to go with a 16" bike so he could "grow into it", but he just looked so little and so high up on them that we worried about safety...after all, it's his first big bike and there are bound to be a ton of falls - the lower the better!

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

This is the second review for this bike, the first one was probably nerver went through the censorship of Amazon.
The bike I got from Amazon was defective, teared seat cushion.
And price is much higher than Walmart about 12 dollars higher.
5 stars for the bike and 2 stars for Amazon's pricing.

Bike is very solid and Heavy duty constructed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lives up to the Tonka tough name, January 18, 2007
This review is from: Tonka Mighty Kid's Bike (12-Inch Wheels) (Sports)
My son LOVES this bike! He is 3 1/2 years old and we got it for him this past Christmas(06). It is heavy as mentioned in previous reviews but I've found that it helps with keeping it from falling over. The tires are super chunky and tough so they definately grip anything they are rolling over, especially our hallway carpet! I also liked this bike because it has brakes. I couldn't believe the amount of 12" bikes I found without brakes!! My son has mastered them already and he's only had it 3 weeks! The springy shocks are cool too. All in all, it makes my son feel like a big boy and he has been able to zoom around since day one, and stop safely too! If you have a little boy who's always moving and tumbling, this bike is for him. You can't beat the price for the quality either.

We have an assortment of cheaper bikes and they all get left out in the rain often. The chains won't stay on, and wheels loose air and the bearings lock up in less than a year. But the Tonka holds up. We bought it a few years back when grandson was two. He grew into it and still rides it at five. It goes anywhere. I wish they made a girls model. Our granddaughter rides it now at three so we're looking for her a bike. Haven't found one as good so I may just end up buying another and painting it pink.
It's slower than the bigger bikes because the small wheels. The only repair I've done is the handle bar got loose. Well built bike.

I put this bike together for my son in no time, it was easy and the bike is really heavy duty for the price. Check around for the best price because this one isn't it. My 3 1/2 year old son loves this bike, I would definitely purchase it again. Get the matching pads and helmet also!

I bought this bike four years ago from Walmart for my one year old boy. He likes and enjoys it. Last Christmas I pulled it out from garage for my daugher, she's two years old, , the bike still works great. The only problem I got, was the tire, In a very cold day I inflated the tire, but in the next warm day my mother put it under the sunshine whole the day. then the tire was broken. I bought the BMX Bell 12.5-Inch tire from amazon.com, very easy to replace and now it works great. Will strong recommend to friends.

4.0 out of 5 stars early bike rider, July 21, 2009
This review is from: Tonka Mighty Kid's Bike (12-Inch Wheels) (Sports)
I like the way the bike looks. I like how well built it is. Most 12" bikes are cheaply made. We own the deigo bike and the chain continuously falls off so we decided we needed a new one. My son is 3 1/2 and only 10% for height. Unfortunately he is too small for this bike. He has been riding without training wheels for several months now and I was really hoping this was going to work. But like many other reviews said, it is on the bigger side and my sons height just doesn't fit with this bike :(.
