I have a very typical little boy and he loves this toy! He has has almost every toy dump truck on the market and none can hold up to this one. He loves it and so does his sister. He started out pushing her in it and now they use it when its time to pick up leggos.

First of all this truck is large. The very size of this truck makes an impact and is part of the reason why it makes an enduring toy. The size allows your child to ride on it, to carry sand from the sand pit and things like Lego pieces. The size also makes it hard for it to be left, forgotten, in a corner. The truck is well built with no sharp edges and is very durable. My son has not managed to break it yet. As for the downsides, it is a bit hard and some of the corners could be a bit smoother. I sometimes worry that if one of my kids would fall and hit their head on it that it could hurt a bit. But, I guess, that would be true of most toys. So overall it is a great toy. Highly recommended if your kid is into things with wheels.

My 3 and 4 yr. old boys love to vroom this truck around outdoors. It is VERY durable and easy for the little ones to push and watch in glee as it quickly rolls down hills. We take it camping with us, and the boys love to navigate it through dirt paths. This toy has been a great hit in our family. One word of caution, it is a very METAL and HARD toy, children under 2 could bump themselves (or be bumped by another tot) with its hard contours.

I have two little boys, 1 and 2 years old. They've had the truck for a year now and both love to pile things in it, dump them out, and pile them in again. I'm sure the manufacturer did not plan for this, but it doubles as a kid-carrier. They love to sit in it and ride around the house. Although my elder son has managed to peel off some of the decorative "Tonka" sticker, it has been, in all other respects, indestructible. In addition, I have been pleased that the edges are rounded so that there is a minimum of "ouchies" as a result of bumping into/falling on the truck. I'd recommend it to parents without reservation.

I JUST PURCHASED THIS TRUCK FOR MY 2.5 YR OLD SON IN ADDITION TO THE BACKHOE,THE CRANE AND THE LOADER.HE IS HAVING THE TIME OF HIS LIFE!I PURCHASED THIS ITEM BECAUSE I MY 15 YR OLD SON HAD A SET WHEN HE WAS THIS AGE AND LOVED THEM,AND BECAUSE MY 2.5 YR OLD PICKED IT OUT!ALTHOUGH THE ITEM IS NOT MADE OF MOSTLY METAL AS IT USED TO BE,IT STILL SEEMS ONE OF THE MOST DURABLE TRUCKS ON THE MARKET.I THINK THAT THE ADDITION OF THE HIGH DENSITY PLASTIC PARTS HAS MADE THIS TOY EASIER FOR MY SON TO HANDLE DUE TO IT'S LIGHTER WEIGHT.I ALSO APPRECIATE THE FACT THAT THERE IS A LIFETIME WARRANTY ON THIS TOY.GREAT TOY FOR IMAGINATIVE PLAY!

My son is 3 and loves trucks of any size and shape. This one he plays with everyday, loading up all of his smaller cars and toys and pushing them around. I was worried because it's the first metal truck he has received but he's been playing with it nonstop since Christmas with no problems. Very durable, he sits in it, and great fun. I recommend to all.

This product is fun, economical, and VERY durable - been to the beach, salt water, dirt, etc. and still has never rusted - even left in rain and snow !!! 5 stars for any 4 year old who plays hard with his (or her) construction vehicles !!!

We bought the Tonka dump truck for our then, 2 year old son last Christmas. A year later this is still his favorite toy. He plays with it every single day and it looks just like the day we brought it home. It has a nice big bed in it which he can pile high with dirt, toys whatever. He sits in it and scoots himself across the floor in it as well. It's worth twice what we paid for it. Strong, tough, durable, fun, a classic toy, what more need I say? No batteries, bells, whistles or light, just good clean (sometimes dirty, muddy fun) add imagination and go!!

I had on of these as a kid and found it recently. It's a little rusty but it's still good and it's over 20 years old.

I started my nephew out with a few of the plastic Tonka's and when he turned 3 I got him this. He still plays with it a lot. He even dug up one of his grandmothers flower beds playing with it. (sorry mom) He really beats on it and besides some scrapes and minor dents it is still in great condition. Find a spot for them to play in the dirt or get them a sand box to keep them out of trouble and they'll have lots of fun playing with it.

I had a Tonka dump truck as a child and it was virtually indestructible. As I grew older, I somehow thought that first graders shouldn't play with Tonka toys and I neglected it in the backyard. As I grew older, I began to realize how much fun that old truck was and I always promised myself that I was going to get another one. It looks a little different from when I had one as a child, but it's still great. Though I'm no longer pushing it up and down my mother's freshly waxed kitchen floor or heaping shovelfuls of dirt in the working dumpable bed, I still get enjoyment out of it. Since I purchased it at Toys R Us, it's been a staple on my desk.
