This is a great truck -- my 3 and 5 year old boys have had it for about 6 months now and play with it daily and it's still in perfect condition. They love garbage trucks and anything to do with garbage. HOWEVER, I only rated this a 3-star because I can NOT believe the prices they are putting on these trucks on Amazon! This truck is currently on sale at Walmart for $20 (was there this morning and saw it). It is normally priced $25 there. I bought ours at Toys R Us and payed $29 for it. It says on this item here that the list price is $79 -- a total lie. And, I know there is no shortage of this truck because I see it in toy departments all over the place.

I say go buy it, but not on-line.

This looks like a great toy and is a lot of fun, but there is a major safety problem. My son stuck his arm in the garbage hole about 10 minutes into playing with it and couldn't get his arm back out. We were finally able to remove his arm by cutting into the truck with a metal hack saw and sheet metal cutters. It took us an hour to get him free--an hour of horrible screaming and pain. He has a huge bruise on his arm from it. I really liked the idea of this toy and can state that it is VERY durable with metal rods holding it together, but it was horrible to watch my little guy suffer from an unsafe toy.

We previously ordered one of the Bruder Garbage trucks for my son for his b-day and boxed it back up to return the same night he opened it-parts were breaking!

Through searching, online and in stores over the next several days, I decided to try this Tonka garbage truck. It has been a HUGE hit!!! The child can separate the garbage and recycling-which has color coded cards-so it teaches them about sorting. The buttons make realistic sounds and commentary, which again provides for teachable moments. My son loves it when trucks/cars have doors that really open-this one does and includes a "garbage man" to sit inside. If your child enjoys garbage day as much as mine does, they'll love this truck!

This was one of my son's Christmas presents. While he like it, the truck was much bigger than I expected it to be--which is okay, but it takes up more space in the living room (where most of his favorites end up). And the little cardboard pictures of "trash" weren't much fun and were quickly discarded in favor of other, smaller toys and multicolored rocks purchased separately.

My three year old son wanted a trash truck ever since he watched Toy Story 3. When the holidays rolled by all he said was 'Santa bring me trash truck'. Husband and I looked all around for this truck and found it a BJ's for 35 dollars. So it is out there for cheaper than Amazon. HOWEVER I have to say that we waited for Santa's present for last, and we are glad we did. He has played with nothing else since. I love the durability, and all the different arms to lift and dump. It does have buttons for noise and I like the fact that it is not to loud like some toys that get to be so loud it grates on the nerves. I highly recommend this, but price it out at other stores.

First of all, I'm really not a fan of Walmart, in fact I avoid this shop as much as I possibly can.
It just happens that I was in there tonight to return something. We're just a few days before Christmas and they were stocking this stuck and the Titan fire Truck both from Tonka at $39!! This online merchant is a complete rip off.

We got this for $20 at Walmart for our son's 4th birthday. He is totally, absolutely crazy about it. He said it must be the best garbage truck in the world. There are a good many moving parts, sounds, and buttons to keep him busy, a garbage man figurine, 2 recycling cans that lift up onto the truck, and he has been loading his large Lincoln Logs onto it. I don't know about durability because we just got it.

Great truck, all kinds of sounds and actions....perfect for our little boy who loves to watch the trash being picked up every week. Now he can pretend all of the time that he is his beloved trash truck driver. Very cool truck!

Truck arm is manual and is made of cheap plastic. The way the bins attach to the arm is stupid and will eventually cause the arm to break. The only thing realistic about this truck is the sounds it makes. Had I seen this truck at a toy store I would have not paid more than $20 for it. Note to self, never buy toys online. Must say the service was great and the truck showed up on time. It just that Tonka makes cheap toys.
