Once again Hutton Wilkinson has given us another magnificent book that is simply exceptional in every respect. It is without a doubt one of the most beautiful books I have seen with incredible pictures of amazing and one of a kind pieces of jewelry that are each truly works of art. Wilkinson's text is wonderful as always and no expense is spared in the detail of each page. It's a pleasure to admire the work of Wilkinson and his late business partner Tony Duquette. Once again Hutton Wilkinson demonstrates that he has the eye, skill, and talent to create something that will last forever. This is NOT a coffee table book as much as I think it to be a work of art just as the photographs of some of the most incredible jewelry captured within these pages is revealed in a tasteful and pleasing manner. Highly recommended!
I almost fainted when I saw the cover, but became speechless when I opened this glorious book. I've collected jewelry books through the years, THIS ONE is the best. If you have an opportunity to purchase this masterpiece I would, I would, I would.
I really enjoyed this book. Read it from cover to cover. It was not only beautifully put together with gorgeous photos, but whimsically narrated by the author, Hutton Wilkinson. Not just a coffee table book. If you like colorful anecdotes, gem lore and wonderful jewelry all rolled into one, this is the book for you!
I just died and went to jewelry heaven! No need for signatures, the pieces are one-of-a-kind or so intrincately done that no forger will dare to repeat them. The photos feature some of Mr. Duquette's objects. A genious in every aspect and Mr. Wilkinson is doing a magnificent job recording his work. Bravo!
This book is a good value for the money. Lavish photography - interesting backgrounds. You can't compare this jewelry with something produced by a master jeweler such as Lalique. A lot of the pieces look kind of thrown together and primitive. Some of the massive rock chunk necklaces look like a refined "Flintstones" piece. Mr. Wilkinson is a delightful, flamboyant eccentric and raconteur. His books are always entertaining and informative. There is a gorgeous emerald and pearl necklace on his website that should have been included in this collection. A few pieces are extraordinary - many of the pieces are big and colorful, but not especially unique.
I must-have if you own all the previous books on Tony Duquette: luscious new pieces and great text. I'm giving this to several friends this Christmas, it's so gorgeous!! The designs are like Verdura's pieces gone all Hollywood!!!
Tony Duquette is not a household name, but he should be. His whimsical, fantastic, organic baubles rendered in exotic jewels are magical objects of fantasy. It was interesting as well to read about his career as a set and costume designer for stage and screen, not to mention his glorious houses. Kudos to the fabulous Hutton Wilkinson for keeping Mr. Duquette's magnificent creations alive via this book, and Mr. Wilkinson's own works of art.
Tony Duquette was an American Original. This book which highlights his jewelery designs for private collectors is unbelievably breathtaking! The photographs are stunning. If you love jewelry or are a jewelry student, this book is a must have for inspiration. Mr. Duquette's use of materials varied from the super cheap to ultra expensive. He didn't discriminate when it came to the objects he decided to use in his creations. I highly recommend you buy this book. You won't be disappointed.
