4.0 out of 5 stars SIMPLE SOLUTION December 26, 2010

SAME CALIBRATION ISSUE WASTED ALOT OF TIME!!!!!! NOT HAPPY!!!!! PROBLEM IS NOT THE GAME!!!! THE BATTERIES THEY INCLUDE WITH THE GAME ARE NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO HIT THE WII SENSOR. AFTER WASTING TWO HOURS TRYING TO HELP MY SON, INQUIRED DID BATTERIES COME WITH IT? WHEN I REALIZED HE HAD INSERTED STOCK BATTERIES THAT CAME WITH THE GAME - REPLACED THEM WITH MY NEW ENERGIZER BATTERIES AND BEHOLD THE GAME CALIBRATED IN 15 SECONDS. EXCELLANT GAME - LOUSY BATTERIES.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun Game, ZERO Issues, Plays Right Out of the Box! September 30, 2011
Platform for Display:Nintendo Wii| Edition:Skateboard Bundle|Verified Purchase
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Yeah, I'm not sure what's up with the hardware issues others are having, but either they fixed the problem or I got lucky and got one of the good ones.

The board calibrates right away (well, it takes a *little* time, you have to do four sensors/tilt directions etc.) and you're off to the races.

The gameplay is more fantasy than reality, such as crashing through plate glass windows, riding the gutters on roofs, and grinding down a mile of railing, but it's definitely a fun game.

And for the price I paid on Amazon's lightning deal - it just might be the best video game purchase I've ever made. Ol' Tony's instruction gets a little nagging and repetitive at times, but you can turn off his hints in the options.

OH - And I'll leave you with a helpful hint of my own! The instructions do not tell you how to turn the board off! When you're finished with gameplay the power button on the board has no effect, and if you take the batteries out the board power comes right back on as soon as you re-insert them. I found out through some internet searching that it's taking its power-on cue from the dongle plugged into the USB port on the console. Even if the Wii console is powered down the dongle is powered and sending a message to the board to stay on. So when you're done playing, remember to unplug the dongle and the board lights will flash for about 15 seconds and then it will power down.

5.0 out of 5 stars Less than 5 minutes to setup July 29, 2011

I used the original batteries that came with the product and I didn't have to move any furniture. The first step of calibration has you lay the board flat on the ground and it does its detection. The first 2 attempts for step 1 failed for me. My wii is about 2.5 ft off the ground so I set the board on my ottoman which now puts the wii only 1 ft higher than the board. I also made sure there was a direct line of sight between the board and the usb sensor. Step 1 was then successful. I stood 2 feet in back of the board when completing step 1. The distance from my wii to the front of the board was 6ft. Step 2 has you cover the back sensor with your foot for 10 sec, was successful on first attempt. Step 3 has you cover the front sensor for 10 seconds, the first attempt failed for me, which I believe was because I was blocking the usb sensor from seeing the board. On the second attempt when I covered the front sensor with my foot I stood a little off to the side so that the board still had a direct line of sight to the usb sensor, 2nd attempt was successful. Step 4 has you cover the left sensor for 10 seconds with your foot, 1st attempt was successful. Step 5 has you cover the right sensor for 10 seconds with your foot, 1st attempt was successful. So far I have really enjoyed the game. Hope my steps help someone get their board calibrated.

Bought one for my son's birthday and it wouldn't calibrate after lots of effort. Exchanged it for another and the same thing happened. I finally just returned it. I found out from other web sites that this is a common problem.

1.0 out of 5 stars Does not work December 9, 2010

I bought this game for my son as a birthday present. The board did not calibrate, we really did try everything. We even took furniture out of the play room to give it more than the 4 feet of distance per sensor. Nothing worked, my son was very sad as he was looking forward to playing the game. I will send it back tomorrow and get him something else. Very disapointing.

5.0 out of 5 stars calibrated on first try August 19, 2011
Platform for Display:Nintendo Wii|Edition:Skateboard Bundle
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
We bought this for our 8 yr old and we usually look at reviews before we buy but took a chance and we were suprised by all the bad reviews. We opened the box and started the set up and calibration. I would recomend the following. Use a new set of AA, make sure the square sensor is in the front. This will require turning the wii sideways. I set the board on our ottaman. When it came time to calibrate I followed the instructions but used my hand to cover the sensor and it worked on the first try. Also remember that after you start the game press the red light button on the usb sensor that you plugged into the back of the wii. This will sync the board. My son played it for about 90 min this morning and loves the game.

1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY - WILL NOT CALIBRATE!!!! December 25, 2010
Platform for Display:Nintendo Wii| Edition:Skateboard Bundle|Verified Purchase
Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
My son was looking forward to Christmas and playing game. After hours of frustration trying to get it to calibrate, he has moved on to other toys that actually work. I tried all of the ridiculous suggestions - old battery, low lights, etc. He is a suggestion for Activation - test your product and make sure it works before putting it on the shelf!

3.0 out of 5 stars Took FOREVER to calibrate, but seems like a great game. December 12, 2010

After spending literally hours trying to calibrate, talking to customer service (they were very nice, but couldn't get it to work), exchanging the board, and trying it at a friend's house, I was starting to look for another gift for our son. My husband tried one last time - carrying the board into the next room - around the corner and about 20 or 25 feet away from the WII. It worked! It was either the distance, the corner, or the run down batteries (something customer service suggested). It seems like a great game for anyone who is lucky or persistent enough to get it started. Good luck!
