5.0 out of 5 stars A hot toy for a fairly cool price!
Finding a fun toy that doesn't require selling off some of your stocks and bonds for a toy challenging enough for a child to enjoy is rather daunting in these days of electronics and robotic high tech wonders.

The Tony Hawk Skateboard is amazingly easy to operate for the young person (8 + yrs. old) in the family. The radio controlled board gives them the impression...

3.0 out of 5 stars Expensive piece of junk
This thing lasted 15 minutes before the plastic front axle broke completely off the board. What a piece of (...junk)!!! Not to mention the additional (...money) for the battery pack above and beyond the skateboard. Complete ripoff!!

The radio controlled board gives them the impression THEY are actually in charge...which of course, they are. If the board flips over...no problem; it'll pop right back up! It seems to be very sturdy and I can't see interest dropping by the wayside as quickly as with most toys in this price bracket. Only complaint I had when I purchased this was having to buy the battery pack & charger separately (and not cheap) or there would be no playing. Otherwise, it's an excellent way to go for the young person that wants a small taste of extreme sports when mom says "NO!" to the real stuff.

I think this toy is well worth the money and at this price even a child could afford with allowance.I think it is great how it pushs itself back up unlike other toys like miny extream motor cycle.I love the flex pack it makes it possible to spend more time playing with it and less time charging the pack or buying new batteries.I think this is a great toy for a o.k price.

I bought this for my nephew and he loves it. I bought it after Christmas so it was on sale. I, like everyone else was disappointed to have to buy the battery pack seperately but I found it brand new on ebay for $10.00 so I was thrilled. I recommend it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Remote Control Battery Compartment Broke, January 12, 2003

This toy was fun the first 5-10 minutes of using it until my son became so frustrated he was in tears. It responded intermittently and eventually not at all. Discovered that the 9 volt battery kept popping out of the remote, and eventally the cover broke. Exchanged it and the new one had the same problems! It's a very poor design. The battery barely fits the compartment and is located under your palm when controlling the vehicle so eventually pops open. Didn't get to use the toy long enough to break the axles...

I purchased this item for $9.99 which i taught was a great deal. after receiving it. I relized the batterypack and charger were not included in the box. you have to purchase it separately for around $34.00 plus shipping.

Ok......So its not the most durable toy in the world. But, like anything made these days, you have got to be cautious. And the box specifically says that the battery pack is not included.
This has got to be one of the coolest toys out there. Don't deprive your child!!!!

tony hawk skateboard is not a good toy; It doesn't have it's own battery pack so you have to buy one separately. you end up spending almost $100.-- just to get it working. It fell apart in 2 places the first half hour of using it. if anyone has an unopened package, send it back or take it back. an unworthy toy!

The toy was fun but falls down constantly and broke during the first day of use. The front truck barely bumped a wall and broke off.

My 10 year old son received this gift for X-mas from his grandparents. He used it for 5 minutes outside and came in crying because the front axle broke. We took it to the store and exchanged it for a new one. The new one had a hair line crack in the front axle when we took it out of the box, and it broke right away when he used it. I think there is some design flaw and it should be removed from the shelves until Tyco comes up with a better design. It is very flimsy. I also think it is frustrating that you have to buy the special battery pack separately just to play with it. I think it should be included in the package with the toy.
