Skate as the legendary Tony Hawk or as one of nine other top pros: Bob Burnquist, Kareem Campbell, Rune Glifberg, Bucky Lasek, Chad Muska, Andrew Reynolds, Elissa Steamer, Geoff Rowley, and Jamie Thomas. Work your way up the ranks by pulling off hundreds of combos on the fly with supersmooth controls. Nail airs, grabs, slides, grinds, kick- flips, and landing tricks. Skate against a friend in two-player mode (via your link cable). Dual-player modes include split-screen trick attack, graffiti, and horse. Want to skate solo? Take on the single-session mode. You can also tackle other skate pros in career mode to seize the top ranking. Trick off everything (including cop cars) in nine real-world locales, including Burnside Skatepark, malls, a school, and a downtown--all with secret areas, shortcuts, ramps, and interactive objects.

Grab a skateboard and head to the streets for some action in TONY HAWK'S PRO SKATER. Try to score as many tricks as possible in the Halfpipe mode, where the biggest rewards come with complexity and originality. In the Tournament mode, you must compete against professional skaters in five different skate parks, navigating through the park and performing tricks. Hopefully, you will be able to beat the competition to the finish line. If your friends want in on the action, you can challenge them to a race with the Versus mode, where you can compete via the link cable. But don't enter the Versus mode unless you are prepared; the best preparation comes by playing the One-on-One mode against the computer. What can I say about tony hawks pro skater except BUY IT! there is a plethora of skaters available all with 3 great specials including tony hawks 900. The courses and backround are great and make for high replayability. Although I have mastered the game by getting all the skate tapes I still enjoy the two player mode tremendously. different stages provide new challenges like roswell new mexico, a shopping mall and many more great courses you have to unlock. This game scores A+ with me it will with you too!

This game is very good. Unlike alot of gameboy games when you've finished it it's still very addictive. The graphics are extremly good especially in the menu's. The half pipe enables you to pull of 9 visually stunning moves and then you can combine different moves for more points. The street racing competitions are not that great though as the contol on it is bad but the moves you can do are quite good. If your not a skatboard fan then this might not be for you.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater is an awesome game with good graphics (especially for Game Boy) and excellent game play. I especially enjoy the halfpipe mode, where you pick your character and ramp and pull off Backflips, Methods, Japan Airs, 180-900 degree rotations, and much more. The controls are simple and easy to learn. The tournament mode is a little wierd, and the controls for it are hard. I would have given the game 4 stars, but the fun and coolness of the halfpipe brought the rating up. This game also has a two player option (with the game link cable) which I have not been able to test. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater is an excellent game, even though it has some drawbacks. I'd recommend it to anyone, especially those who like 'boarding.
